Here is D3479040A.JCV for Nuvi 40, however it has been obtained via torrent and they are notoriously unreliable with jcv files. I have no way to test it as i don't have a 40, so if someone could test and report back please. [Only registered and activated users can see links. ].

Edit: Tested in a Nuvi 40. File seems OK.

I just got the 3790LMT and downloaded the automatic free map update cnna 2013.10 from Garmin. When comparing it with the same version map I downloaded from the links on this post onto my 765T, I found that my 3790 map from Garmin appears incomplete. My 765T displays the restaurants, hotels and businesses icons on close street magnification but the 3790 has NO business icons at max street magnification anywhere. Are the two cnna 2013.10 maps the same? Any help is appreciated?

On a side note, I noticed that my new 3790 does not display 'Categories' I created in my 'Favorites' like the 765T. Is this a related problem?

My 3790 Map Detail config is set to 'more data' with cnna dem, 2013.10 3d and 2013.10 all traffictrends na 4.25 in myMaps.

It doesn't seem to be anywhere to be found. Not even on the Garmin Server:
    Code:
Please Login or Register to see the links
The D3060060.JCV doesn't have to be on the unit, why not just put it on a microSD? (x:\Garmin\JCV\D3060060.JCV). The full file has many more views and in higher resolution, but maybe if someone has the medium one they'll kindly upload it.

Interesting-er and interestingly, to state the obvious. Out of pure cussedness i've dl'ed the D2335090 file, expecting that it's probably a version of the medium sized D3080060, with less compression to let the 8x5 series cope with it. That's the problem you see, the fw just isn't up to the task of dealing with the larger compressed jcv files, or so it would seem reading between the lines of the usual 'weasel words' concocted by the corporate lawyers:
    whydoesthenuvi8x5receiv
The end result of which is, to put it your words: "... it slows it down like crazy and keeps freezing ...", but it wouldn't do to say that outright, would it, if you're the ones responsible for foisting cr*p onto your unsuspecting customers.

Now, the curious thing is that comparing the two files, D2335090 @ ~708MB and D3060060 @ ~757MB, using my modded 1300 on the route from the centre of New York City (Holland Tunnel/Hudson-->West) and 'shuffling off' to Buffalo there are 15 jv's on each file, over about 700km (370 odd miles to the non-metric among us). Maybe their assertion that 'Once you have completed this process, your device will contain the complete Junction View data base' is actually true. So there goes the lower compression theory, maybe. 'Coz that's only one route. if you've got the file, try it out and see if it runs slow or makes your 855 play ice-maiden like with the D3060060. Perhaps the large file has been messed around with in some other way to get the inadequate 8x5 series to cope with it. If it does run ok though, why the heck don't they just offer it to 8x5 owners via WebUdater anyway upfront instead of offering them the small one and then making them 'find' this one?

I can't agree more I hate when lawyers mess around it think they should just admit that this unit can't handle the update I have seen plenty of my friends units that can't even handle the size of the current US maps on unit that are only about 4 years old!

I actually just put the D3060060 file on because it isn't much bigger and after defraging my unit a couple of times between adding each file (defrag then put on main map, defrag put on jcv) seemed to help my speed except for when doing poi searches it freezes after hitting the second letter but everything else runs fine.

Eddie, I don't claim to be any kind of computer geek, so please don't bash me up if this stuff's not kosher, but as far as i'm aware it's no good defragging flash drives because they don't care where the bits of data are, they are capable of accessing it all at any one time even if it's all over the place. Therefore it doesn't matter if the data be sequential or random. A defrag of a mechanical drive helps because the seek heads can pick up the data quicker if it's sequential as they then don't have to leap all around looking for it. In fact i think because of the wear leveling protection built into a flash drive, defragging it may even shorten it's life marginally because of the 'wear limits' being approached sooner, inhibiting the 'wear leveling' which actually tries to spread the load by writing data evenly in all sectors. The good news is that doing it a couple of times is no big deal, but i'd not be doing it again. So if i'm right, your speed improvement may be due to something else. If i'm talking thru my hat, i'm sure Caty or Ballebar or someone far more savvy than me will jump in and politely correct this.

Good to hear it's running better anyway, for whatever reason.

Neil I am a bit of geek and i know it shouldn't make a difference because you are correct about not defaging flash memory but it seems that it helps nuvi's function better for some reason not sure why but i read somewhere that Garmin actually programmed all nuvis to auto defrag themselves cant remember where at the moment.

Wish i could figure out how to fix the poi searching lag :-(
