    @Mick
    Try setting your location somewhere in the States (with the gps receiver off, like you're going to simulate a route), might work. Otherwise once you get a sat. lock in the States all should be good. I think the 2xxx series are a bit tricky like that.

    PS: No need to thank me if it works, just bring me back some duty-free booze.

    I have nuvi 205 and live in Brazil. Since I have the brazilian maps saved as gmapsupp can I just dowload this north america's image, rename it with windows explorer as gmapprom and overwrite the original gmapprom file in my nuvi? Will this work or do I have to do something else?

    @fcunha79
    I would leave your Brazil map as gmapprom.img and place the CNNA in a Garmin folder in the root of an sd card, named gmapsupp.img. That way if any problems just remove the card and nuvi functions normally. A 2nd map in sd will also work as gmapsup1.img if you've updated your fw recently. If you want to you can put it in the unit's Garmin folder, see here: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ].

    Neil, tks for your reply. But admitting that i'm leaving files the way they are (CNNA as gmapprom and Brazil as gmapsupp in sd card) can I just replace my gmapprom file? Another question I've already replaced it but I'm finding odd that I can't find any preloaded POI's, is that normal? They only appear when I'm in the US or they should also appear here in Brazil? My fw is 5.00.

    Sure, you can delete/overwrite/rename it if you want and put another map in as gmapprom, just check the link i gave before. But better not to put anything 'unofficial' in your unit's memory in my opinion, not only coz of what i stated before .

    POI's should show when you get a sat. fix in the US. If you want to try now in Brazil, turn off GPS in settings then choose 'set location' for somewhere in US. That may work with 205 i think.

    PS: If you mess around with your internal stuff, take a full backup first of course.
