I prefer working with the original locked version .. would it be possible to re-upload the file to Zippy?
    Thanks

I always found that City Navigator SouthernAfrica 2013.10 maps have very cold colours compared to other Mapsets.
I have a TYP file that makes the CityNavigator display warmer colours.

    Instructions. (only for Mapsource Users)

First Backup your GPS incuding the hidden folder /.System

Locate your .gmap folder and rename I0000A3E.typ to I0000A3E._typ_ (this is your backup).

Unzip I0000A3E.typ and copy to your .gmap folder.

Don't open Mapsource or Basecamp yet !

Next you need to delete all the tilecaches in your system. Mapsource,Basecamp, and Mapinstall.
Start, Search, All files and folders, tilecache.
Delete all the Tilecache Folders found.

Backup and delete your existing City Navigator Map from the GPS or Memory Card.

Now open Mapsource, Basecamp or Mapinstall and Load Map to Memory Card.
As with any Customised Map It's not recommended to load it into internal memory.

Tested your TYP with CNE NT ,but my Mapsource crashes when I try to select a tile and the error report says impossible to find the specified file I0000A44.TYP.

The content inside "I00009BC(Europe2013.10).zip" is "I00009BC.TYP".
MapID 9bc(hex) = 2492(dec) and it's for CN Europe NT 2012.30 - [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

Edited Post to remove references to Europe as it does not work on Europe Maps.
    Works only on CNSouthernAfrica 2013.10.

LOL... Yeah, i grabbed the file before you removed it. Tried it out with a few tiles (London) using modded typ in EU2012.30 on a trusty old 265W. Crash and reboot error on start of route simulation, and wont bother to try it on my 1300 now as i'm sure it would be the same judging by your post above... didn't think the modded EU map looked any different than vanilla anyway. Personal taste maybe. Why is the modded I00009BC.TYP file so much smaller than the original though? Maybe that's the problem with EU? Might try again with SAf. Nice post anyway boet.

If you want to modify the TYP files for other maps you have to change the FID inside the TYP file as well as the filename.
Use TypViewer [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
