    Ah, that explains a lot.
I'm not using Mapsource, the reason I went via the Gmaptool route is that I wanted to create gmapi files to install maps in Basecamp on the Mac. Now I see that I don't necessarily have to do this. There's a huge amount of information on here, and getting the right info for your particular situation can be quite difficult.

I presume there's no 3D info in the GB discoverer?

I think there is in the French TOPO, but I need to re-read the thread (perhaps whilst drinking some Red wine :-)

I suggest to look at sticky threads in our Garmin sections and in particulat to the INDEXES, for example:

In this threads there is a summary of all those matters usually create users' questions. Take a look when you look for a reply
I guess you'll find something useful, if not, post and ask, we'll help if possible.

Edit: no 3D in this map

I have made a version of the 50k uk wide rastermap that will open within basecamp. Simply used the garmin migration tools to "migrate" the pc basemap to mac os x format. however prior to this conversion i navigated to the folder and swapped out the pcbasmap.img with the uk 50k os img and voila.

So it is possible. i now use this to rapidly navigate and present data from surveys etc. guess what... i can also PRINT!

JM doesn't work with FID greater than 2200. This message you get is because you don't have .gma file

    Hello,
I've downloaded files from post 13, Garmin GB Discoverer 1:50K v3 - All (Unlocked IMG file), but when I split the map with Gmaptool and install it in the Mapsource, what appears is the City Navigator, how is it possible?
The extracted file size is 3,216,576 instead 3,293,773.
Thank you[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

Mapsource can't show rastermaps, only Basecamp can.
What you are seeing is the underlaying vectormap which is used for autorouting.

Default Cant See GBDiscoverer50K_All.img map on my GPSMAP 60 CSx

    Hi,
New to this but I have had a good look on how to do this. but I have had no joy.

I have downloaded GBDiscoverer50K_All.img (was in a 15 Rar files)
    I have uncomplessed them.
I have used gimgunlock.exe to unlock it.
I have put it on SD card in a directory called garmin.
I can see it in BaceCamp on my PC
put in the card in the GPS and I can not see the map.

I do have another .img file that came with the device on a different card with the device i have copied that to the new card and I can see this img or the maps on it on the gps so there is nothing wrong with the card or it's size.

    Any Advice?

I have now tryed renaming the img file to
    gmapsupp.img.

when I go to look for the map on the gps it shows a name of ", , sep 2011"
when i select it shows no map.

    Help.

@eviljim Does your GPSmap 60CSx have the latest firmware? Latest version is 4.00. Only from version 3.90 onwards, this model GPS is capable of handling map files larger than 2 GB.

@eviljim: the 60CSx can't show rastermaps, only vector maps.
Since all GBDiscoverer maps are rastermaps you'll have to buy a modern GPS if you want to make use of them.
