Then either your unit is faulty (highly unlikely) or neither of those are the correct file for the 40. I think that series uses a specific file unlike some of the other nuvi range ie 13xx can use high res 3xxx jcv, but yours can't handle it. Maybe a 40/50 owner can enlighten you, sorry.

I think the nuvi 40 is not the problem, as it can show the jcv on the internal map (2012.1). I only have problem with the 2012.4 map. Any 40 owners out there can give me some help?

One more feint possibility... although the older jcv file on the unit's internal memory shouldn't cause any conflict problems with the newer file on the sd, try again after removing the older file (backup of course).

EDIT: Same problem by another user with CN Southern Africa 2013.10. Seems like the 40's maybe can only use it's specific jcv file downloaded from garmin with the map. [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]. I hope someone will post it for you if that is the case.

Thanks for the link and info, it looks like there is something different on the Nuvi 40 to prevent it to show jcv with the updated map as your link is indicated. Does anybody have the jcv files for the Nuvi 40 that is willing to share?
