Default Help Garmin Nuvi 270 City Navigator North America 2012 installation

I have a Nuvi 270 and I am using the patched version of MapSource v6.16.3. As you can see from the screenshot, the map is showing as unlocked after I added the code generated by JetMouse. When I click on "Close" in the "Map Product Manager" window, I don't see any maps being shown on the "Maps" tab to the left. From all the screenshots of MapSource I have seen, there's also supposed to be a drop-down menu that should appear to the left of the zoom in icon. I am not seeing that either and instead it is just blank. The "City Navigator North America NT 2012.10.gmap" folder is located at C:\Document and Settings\myname\Application Data\GARMIN\Maps. Please help.

Question City Navigator North America 2012.10 Map Set

I installed the CNNA 2012.10 Maps on my NUVI 3790, and was surprised when I viewed the installed maps (tools>settings>myMaps).

I expected to see just the CN North America Map, but instead see the following:

Cnna - Na - Dem North America DEM

CN North America NT 2012.10 3D

CN North America NT 2011.40 IDAHO, UTAH, MONANA, WYOMING, NEW MEXICO, NORTH D

CN North America NT 2012.10 ALL traffic Trends North America 4.25

The 2011.40 for IDAHO, etc. really has me guessing as to whether the installation program did not delete something that it should have.

I re-installed the CNNA 2012.10, and still had the above maps.

Does everyone else have these, or do I have a glitch?

    Thanks for any input.

    George

Be sure you have unticked in View menu " Base map only"-
Or try to install also a base map like this one

Thanks. I had to go to view -> Switch To Product and then select the city navigator. One more question. I have tried looking at tutorials but I am unable to find an answer. My Garmin folder in my GPS is shown in the screenshot. To move all the 152 Maps to my GPS, which files can I delete from the GPS? "gmapprom.img" and "gmapprom1.img" are the biggest files but I read somewhere that I shouldn't mess with those. Also, my numi 270 has an SD slot which never had an SD card in it. After making room on the GPS, all I have to do click on "Send to device" right? Thanks.

gmapprom.img and gmapprom1.img are your maps. They can be moved off your GPS, but COPY them and the corresponding .UNL files (if present) to your computer's hard drive. Don't just delete them.

Your mapsource, once selected the map tiles you want to transfer, will build just one .img and will send it to your gps or, if your MS is patched, to any drive.
If the map is an update of your previous one, backup it along its .unl file and .gma ,delete them from gps , send the new .img to C: ,unlock it with Fast Img Unlocker then copy it to your gps. Concerning the name, it depends on units and if you want to send to sd or internal mem.
If it is an update, rename it exactly like the old one you want to replace in gps.
To understand a bit more about what is contained in your gps, look at your .imgs with Gmaptool

Drag&drop in it the .imgs ,it will show a log with all the needed infos.

Extremely well packaged! No fuzz at all. Except I tried to run the install on a VMware XP image not patched to SP3. It did complain on a missing component. But after applying SP3 all went smooth as silk!
