If the map is in OF format, you may be able to add a particular house number and recompile the map. But I never tried this before. It is out of the question if the map is in NT format. In either case, one thing you can try is to find the exact location through Google Map's street view, if available, then add a waypoint (with coordinates of the location found) to your navigation software as destination.
Hmmm, so what could be the cause of my 3790T leading me to the correct street but incorrect house number?

How does it exactly interpolate the house numbers? Does it start from number 1? From which end of the road segment does it start interpolating?

What is a waypoint and how do you add them? Do you mean you can add Google Map's street view to a 3790T?

I downloaded the locked version of jklinc 1.24, used unlock mapset.exe to unlock the maps directory, used mapsource to make one .img file in my hdd which I named gmapsupp.img, used gmaptool to change the typ file of the .img file but now when I use the map in my 3790T the search address function seems to be not working properly. When I search a house number + street it only directs me to the street. It doesn't recognize the house number. When I'm done searching, say for example "23 ADB Ave. Pasay City" (this is the bldg. of Anson's), it shows in the map "ADB Ave." and when I tap that street it doesn't show the number that I've searched.

Did I do anything wrong in unlocking the mapset and transferring it into my nuvi?

    Please help. Thanks.

If you understand what I have explained, you should know this is due to limited house numbers in map data. There is simply no data for each house on the map, except City Navigator Taiwan Address Point. Even Google Map returns approximated location when searched by address.

Suppose a road segement starts from house number 100 and ends at 200. When you search a house number 125, the returned location will be at about one quarter of the road segment from the end with number 100. Similarly, 175 will be at about three quarters of the road segement from the same end. This is a very simple linear interpolation.

A waypoint is a user defined POI, like those in Favorites. You cannot add street view to your 3790T. Read carefully again about what I said.

To create a waypoint with coordinates, firstly, use Goolge Map's street view to find the location you want to go to. Sometimes you can see the house number in street view. Secondly, there is a small map at the lower right corner of the street view. Click on the upper left corner of this small map to enlarge it. Thirdly, right click on the person in the enlarged map and select "What's here?". A set of coordinates in degrees should show up in the search box near the top of the web page. Fourthly, on your 3790T go to "Where To? -> Coordinates" and enter the coordinates returned by Google Map. You may need to change the format to degree by clicking the three-bar icon at upper left corner. Lastly, click "View on Map" and click on the three-bar icon to save the location created by coordinates as a Favorite point.

Maps created by reverse engineered MapSource installation will lose address search capability. Add the downloaded gmapsupp.img directly to your 3790T instead (unlock as necessary) and the address search function will be retained.

Ok. Thanks for the info. What I'm wondering about is that even when I search 25 vs. 75, it points me to the same location on the map, at least when I see it on the map (I'm searching inside my home without satellite signal). How do I know nothing's wrong? Also, with regards to improper processing of gmapsupp.img when you lose the search address function, how do you know you actually lose it? The search icon would be gone?

One possible reason is the starting and ending numbers of the road segment encompass a big range, so a difference of 50 is only a very small change in the range, almost like no change. To find the real reason will require the analysis of map data and address search algorithm which only Garmin knows.

Depending on the platform, when address search is not working you may see the "Find Address" (or its equivalent) menu item/button/icon being greyed out (or disabled), or you may get "No Matches Found" in the search result.

So in most cases, the house/building in both ends of a road segment is known and embedded in the map data so as to serve as a basis for the device's interpolation scheme? Is this correct?

The search address is working on mine so I guess I didn't do anything wrong with unlocking it. I have yet to try other house number addresses so see what is going wrong. As of now, all of the addresses I've tried, the device pointed me far off from the exact location of the house.

I hope Philippines users of the 3790T would confirm too about this.

Most likely true in business and residential areas. On the other hand, freeways, highways and remote country roads may not have house number embedded at all.

This is weird because ADB Ave. is just a short road segment. I still don't understand why it can't point me "near" that 23 ADB Ave. when in fact Anson's bldg. is a known bldg. here. Is there any other possible cause for this problem?

Anyone in the Philippines uisng the 3790T can pleaee confirm if you can seaech properly "23 ADB Ave., Pasig City" with Contributor maps 1.24? Your help will be greaty appreciated.

Then I guess there's something wrong with what I'm doing?

This is exactly what I do:

    1.) Tap "Where To?"
    2.) Tap "Address"
3.) Change the State to "Ncr"
4.) Change City to "Pasig City"
5.) Type "23" in house number.
6.) Type "ADB Ave." in street.
7.) 3790T will show "ADB Ave." in the map with the "Go!" button. Do you see the same view wherein the device just shows ADB Ave. in the map (after searching) without the number "23"?
