Ok, I copied the wrong file name is my last question.

Looking at the Garmin City Navigator Europe NTU 2016.10, I see listed
    "Nuvi40/50/60/Street Pilot JCV
D3589160A.JCV 1 RAR archive, unpacked size 154.485.489 bytes"

Which is an exceedingly similar same file name that Garmin's updater installed with my "City Navigator Lower 49 States NT 2017.10"

This is also the exceedingly similar file name found under the "City Navigator Europe NTU 2016.30"

    "D3589180A.JCV - Nuvi-3x,4x,5x-Android Street Pilot"

I am more asking, what does this file do and what do I need to do to install it, on the unlocked map I copied to my SD card? Would I need to put it in a JVC folder on the SD card? Or is this setup completely unnecessary?

D3589180A.JCV is Junction view (displays junction signs)
    Spoiler: screen
    nricklsplit

copy the file in a directory in SD\Garmin\JCV\

The sequence number behind the dot gets incremented with each new version of that particular map (was maximum 4 per year, now reduced by Garmin to maximum 3 per year).

    Hello all
My Son asked me to see if I could Update his Nuvi 255w, so OK I said.
Off to read as much as I could on here, well my head was spinning with all the info, but the first thing I wanted to do was Update the Firmware, thought I'd go to Garmin site, Garmin Express was mentioned, so downloaded and follow the steps, success updated from 2010 to 2015 firmware.
Next step updating maps, more reading, I also noticed on Garmin site an free update to Mapsource_6163. So I did and this is when I found I didn't have Win7 SP1 so that was fixed because mapsource requires .net 4.6.
Once that was all done Garmin Express suggested City Navigator Aus and NZ NT 2015 so looked on here, decided on City Navigator Aus and NZ NT 2017.10 - HERE by kenta2
Installed OK but was locked, remember seeing [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] so gave it ago finally found the right path and ran the .exe and it worked. " Seems it works on version 6 as well"
Back at Mapsource checked and the map was unlocked, selected all of OZ and uploaded them to the Nuvi, gave it to my son and he turned all the other maps off and there was City Navigator Aus and NZ NT 2017.10 maps all there and working.
Now to find OzTopo greater than version 4 to install next.
As said many a time all the info is there you just have to decide what you need to do First.

    Hi Guys,

    I'm a new gps user and have a Gpsmap64s.
I used the Universal Firmware Patcher for Protected Garmin Devices step1-5.
I downloaded City navigator europe NTU 217.1 and topo Belelux pro v2.0 (both IMG files). I Unlocked them both with gimgunlock.
I put both maps in a folder garmin on a new 64gb sd card in my gps.
Now I can see and use both maps in Basecamp but I can't find them om my gps.
Does anyone have an idea what the problem could be?

    Thanks!

After reading this forum for hours on end and drowning myself in tons of coffee I finaly can say:

    Solved it!

The problem was the 64gb sd card.
It was in an Exfat format. After reformatting to Fat32 everything worked perfect!
