After that I used GmapTool to upload the IMG file to Mapsource on my computer and then used Mapsource to send the maps to the eTrex with the card in it.
BTW does anybody know of a card reader that will read and write to both CompactFlash (camera) and Micro SDHC (eTrex GPS) cards when plugged (USB preferably) into a computer running XP sp3?
    Hi duckwrangler

Great to hear you are all sorted, seemed a complex way to get the image to your card but as long as it's working that's the main thing, Most good computer stores sell "usb Multi card readers" for all your needs (Google is your friend) I use 1 for all my needs as sometimes they are faster at data transfer than your Garmin device.

    Hi Walterl1,

This is off topic (apologies, please move to the correct forum Catymag if you feel necessary), I have a USB "Tomato" multi card reader that is supposed to read/write to CompactFlash and Micro SDHC cards (in adapter), however it does not work with my 4Gb Micro SDHC cards. This forum mentions in a few posts that USB card readers will not work with Micro SDHC cards particularly when trying to establish the card ID to plug into JM unlock generator. I would like to obtain a USB reader that does if possible without having to take my laptop to the shop to check before buying. Anyone recommend a brand and model please?

    Thanks and regards.

    Hi duckwrangler

A lot more info is needed that you probably would not want to broadcast in public Forum, like your country and town of residence etc, for anyone to find a place of purchase however I have used this reader for more than a year now, I have transfered from my Nokia SD Card using standard micro SD adaptor also my garmin again using full size card and adaptor I have a Samsung camera that uses micro SD and I have found it works for all size cards.

By the way most good shops would understand and accept a condition of purchase would be that it works as per your requiments if they don't just go somewhere else

    Hi woodie

The easiest way to get the map working is to put it on an SD card, on the card create a folder called garmin and put the image inside that, it should be named gmapsupp.img

as its locked you will have to make a gmapsupp.unl file and on that file paste the serial number you created from the keygen using your Garmin Device ID and the map Family id: 2262 Pid: 1
(it's easy just use this link for keygen [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] Thank's to Thefatboy for posting it then see the pictures I post below)

open notepad document paste the serial into that and then save as type gmapsupp.unl (note the save as type "all files") in notepad you will get a warning from windows asking if you really want to save it just say yes, this unl file go's in the garmin folder beside the gmapsupp.img on the card

    Hi woodie
Drop the box down right to the bottom and select custom mapset right down the bottom past the Garmin Travel Guide Fodor's North America, then put in 2262 FID (or MapID) then 1 in PID then click ok then generate that's your unlock code to be saved to gmapsupp.unl see pics post #36
