    Hi Merry map makers

Would it be possible to add just the .img file to the GB Topo map set, locked or unlocked on Zippyshare as would really help me.

Garmin's website says that this map is compatible with most nuvi models and looks like a cool map to have on sd for days out exploring.

    Great site, with great atmosphere.

    Kind regards
    Graeme

You're referring to [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] i suppose. It's a setup install for MS & BC and quite an old map now. You can send an image to your unit/SD with MS or BC/Mapinstall, but because it's outdated, why not go for this series instead?: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]. Ready made images, up to date and better features than the old Topo V2 (may it RIP).

    Hi Neil

Thank you, you did suppose correctly that I was interested in Garmin GB topo V2 but I think you missed my point of wanting it to fit my Nuvi unit, 1695 live LMU.

The Discover series of maps are not compatible with any of the Nuvi range according to Garmin own site.

So to save me having to put Mapsource or Basecamp on my computer for a one off fancy and having to struggle to learn how to use them, how about my original request of an gmapsupp.img link ? You obviously know how to do this and I don't.

    Many thanks
    Graeme

    Hi Roger

You must be very good at crosswords because I believe you are trying to help me with a cryptic clue about the 3rd link, but I must just be too thick to get it.
    Please explain further.

I don't want to install Mapsource on my computer again as my previous experience was when a LMU went wrong when Mapsource grabbed the update and caused me lots of problems. It is probably a great tool once you have learnt to use it. I hope I am painting a picture of someone who is not a computer genius.

Having read the spec of GB Topo V2 I just fancied a copy on a SD card for the sunny fun days should they ever return, its snowing here again! I don't need an epic adventure or a quest just some help please.

    Many thanks
    Graeme

Crossword I manage quite well, how did you guess?

We will always try to help people, but also to make them self as much as possible doing so leads two purposes: to make them self for the future and, who knows, maybe in turn help others less able.

Using MapSource is extremely simple ... think that I did too

If you use the portable version, you'll have no problem with the LMU (I use two LMU and MS on my PC and never had any problems)

Available for clarification, but there is everything in the Garmin Tutorial section

    Bye,bye

Dead right Mate... I did totally miss that you have a nuvi, not an outdoor model. I think [from memory] that the only nuvis that can use raster content as in GB Discoverer series is 5x0.

Totally agree. It's not that hard if even Roger and I can do it. I actually do have this map already, but i live a bit out in the bush here and my adsl is really cr*p so a big upload like that will fail. Even if someone did it for you, as the Cryptic Crossword Master points out, what help would that be for you in the future and anyway, using the basics of MS (and BC) is really very simple. The first time i used MS i just looked at this [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] from the [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] Rog suggested to you, and was able to send an image from MS within minutes. The rest i learned slowly (suits my slow brain). Just have a go, we'll help you if you get stuck (make sure you post for help in the right thread though, and only after reading up). Good luck.

A big thank you to roger1109 and neil for setting me this challenge.

I now have Mapsource and Basecamp up and running from an old laptop hard drive that I will dedicate to Garmin info. GB topo V2 is on SD card, disappointed with result as even on 1695 5" screen it is hard work, but fabulous on 24" monitor, will have to go back to paper maps but home made ones. I have split CN Europe between Nuvi 265W and SD card so I now have all on machine. You were both right these programmes are easy to use and while playing I have made a SD of my favorite East coast states ready for my next holiday to the USA, you did say anyone can do it, it seems self help is the the most satisfying help you can get. So again my thanks and wishing you all merry map making as it is no longer a black art to me.

    Kind regards
    Graeme aka boac69
