Default Help with Oregon 200 maps

Hi, can anyone tell me which road map I need for the UK or Europe. I have downloaded the latest Uk NT map and run it in gimgunlock but the device doesn't display the map. I have updated the device to the latest software btw.

    Thank's if you can advise...

Hi and welcome to GPS Power.

Does the Oregon 200 display any error message during start up? If yes, the map is not properly unlocked. If not, the map is simply not recognised. Assuming you're using the UK NT map on a microSD, where (in which folder) on the microSD did you place the map file? Make sure the file extension is .img.

Thank you! My maps are in the Garmin folder and the extension is .img. The device sees the map just doesn't load it. No error messages either...

If it's in map list may be the .img is not good, corrupted.
Or you have too many map tiles in your Oregon, or a similar older CN map covering the same area. Difficult to guess.
You can check for tiles and valid imgs in Oregon with JaVaWa Device Manager

This so frustrating! I have cleared all old maps off the SD card and tried using the free OSM road map and all I get is the ruddy useless basemap. The device can see the map in the map selection under setup and it is enabled. This map can just be copied to the sd card aparrently. What are tiles btw?

I think colorado 200 has a 2025 map/segment limit, Basemap+preloaded map+user added map, but check with JaVaWa Device Manager.
    Some more info here too:

    What is a mapping segment?
Detailed mapping software, such as City Navigator NT or Topo 24, on a DVD format will contain many mapping segments within MapSource or MapInstall. A mapping segment is one selectable area of mapping that can be transferred to the device.
The segment selected to be transferred to the GPS is highlighted in Mapsource in pink.
Do you have a basemap in your colorado?

Also, on my etrex I can turn off individual maps. Useful when switching profiles. Is this possible on yours?

This is nuts! The sd card was completely empty. I added my old 2009 map that worked ok (just outta date etc) by using javawa to do the transfer and it is recognised in the maps under setup, but when I look at the map I just have a grey background with black lines all over the place. The *.img file is nor corrupt and there is no error message. Is it possible that updating the software from 3.7 to 4.2 has screwed my device in some way?? Yes cnschulz I can turn any map on or off just doesn't do anything!
