Default Old Nuvi 350 doesn't recognize unlocked map

I have an old Nuvi 350 that I use on my motorcycle. The maps were out of date and I found newer unlocked map on the net.
Load the gmapsupp.img on the sd card but the gps doesn't show it in map info.
I loaded back the previous unlocked map (2014) and it came back to normal.
I know it's an old device but sometimes it's easier to mod.
Wanted to know if there's a way to refresh the maps

    Thanks

    Hi grostoutou, welcome to GPSPower.net!

Please note the nüvi 350 is limited to recognizing map files up to 2 GB only. Depending on which map you refer to, you may need to download the PC installable version (AKA MapSource version) and create a custom version of the map using MapInstall, selecting only those map areas which you are interested in, not exceeding the 2 GB size limit. Noting your location is Canada, it's my guess you're using the CN North America. The size of the 2014.30 version was 1.97 GB. As of the 2014.40 version, the 2 GB mark was exceeded. The latest version 2017.20 measures 2.58 GB.

OK that does make a lot of sense...I've look back at the 2014 gmapsupp that was installed and yes, it's less than 2GB and all the newer one are all larger than the 2GB limit.
Is there a tutorial on the recommended softwares, I'm pretty sure I can end up understanding the procedure but I will use any help I can get.

    Thanks Smokefree

Have a look at post#3 #4 #5 I think that some of the pre-built maps might be suitable for your Nuvi.
