    Default Garmin 2610 map update

    Hello,

Someone bought a Garmin 2610 for a motorcycle. Is it possible to update the software for this model to the newest one?
If yes, who can help me please?

    Thanks in advance!

What do you mean with " update the software" ? the newest is the older version 4.80 (year 2006).
really did you mean that? or the question is about "how to update maps" ?

The title of this thread is "Garmin 2610 map update", so I assume ikkuh is after a map update for the StreetPilot 2610.
If so, please note this device uses CF memory cards of up to 256 MB storage space. You can't do much with those anymore.
So the practical answer to the first question would be a simple 'No'.

Actually, they can use up to 32GB CF cards, provided the map image on it doesn't exceed 2GiB minus 1 byte [only one detail map, as gmapsupp.img in Garmin root folder].

Probably non NT maps only, so better to use OSM maps for it, at least they are up to date.

I use my SP2610 with maps from garmin.openstreetmap.nl, use the generic routable.

Yes, non-NT Garmin maps from 2009 or custom maps/OSM only in 26x0 StreetPilot. Unlike the [slightly later] SP27x0 which can use NTs but it doesn't have a media card and only ~1.7GB onboard memory available.
