Default Send map to an Etrex legend H

    Hi

I want to transfer a map to an old Etrex Legend H
I've connected to my PC but I cannot see the gps as an external disk, I see it in my device administrator of windows, but not in the place of regular USB ports

Is there any way to do it?

    Thanx in advance

Do you have Garmin drivers installed?
You can send maps with Mapsource.

This is not a device with a visible file system, it's a quite old 'region only' device where the various maps [basemap and detail maps] are held in various regions of the flash. The basemap is always in region 3 [0x03] and the primary detail mapping is held in another region, sometimes 2 or 3 others [supplementary and OEM as well as primary] depending on region layout but i suspect with your unit only one detail map can be added. As the entire internal flash is only 24MB and it has no media card capability then only a very small map can be loaded. As said you can use MapSource for older PC install mapping data or MapInstall for more modern PC install [.gmap folder] data. You'll not be able to load very much.

You can do both probably. But if you remove, say, an Atlantic or Pacific basemap because that's where the unit was originally sold you'll need a replacement for your region [Americas] or the unit won't function properly. See these threads:

To backup the current basemap you'll need to dump region 3 [hex 0x03], see here for a couple of methods: [From Post #31] [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]. I don't know which way will work with your eTrex or if indeed either will.
