Hi all. A tiny bit of background..I have a Garmin 420 GPSMAP that died, making my expensive Bluechart G2 Vision useless, at least until I found this site.
So, I successfully got the .img file off the sd micro chip (Had to put it in my camera and get it via USB...Bizarre) used the unlocker alternative V2/gmaptools/cgmapper/mapsettoolkit to get it into mapsource, then read it in nroute.
I haven't hooked up a gps puck yet, but all seems in order so far.
Now the issue: I have a second computer which I would prefer to use for navigation. It is an XP computer as well, and I have upgraded it to SP3 like my other computer.
Everything is fine until I use the mapsetoolkit. It seems from the brief window flashes that gmaptool is breaking the main .img file down into component .img files, but when it switches to cgmapper the window is so brief I can't see what is going on, and mapsettoolkit reports "conversion failed". Very frustrating.
Is there a way to view a log to see what the issue is?
I created a folder: c:\garmin\maps for the result and specified it in gmaptool under directory. All other parameters selected as instructed. I wasn't sure about FID, so I left it at 2028. I selected split all and it seems to have performed correctly.
I ran the batch file and the window showed:
- This batch will install map for Mapsource
- Map: "gmapsupp.img"
- FID: 2028
- PID: 0
- Press Enter to continue or Ctrl-C to abort.
Press any key to continue . . .
(I pressed Enter)
Compiling preview map.
'cgpsmapper' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
operable program or batch file.
File missing:mapset.img, aborting install.
Press and key to continue...
Any thoughts...seems like it can't navigate to cgpsmapper for some reason. I have de and reinstalled it a couple of times without success.
Thanks for any help.

I dont remember setting it,no. I had to leave for the weekend but ill get back to it soon.
Im now considering this a personal challenge lol Thanks for the help its appreciated.
Back to it!
Turns out it was in there, proabably as a result of using mapsettoolkit, not sure.
Anyway I reran Gmaptool and got some errors. Maybe I didn't look for these the first time. The output looks like this:

This time when I ran the batch it found cGPSmapper, which is a step formward, but of course it found the same errors as above. Maybe I'll try to de-check marine map and see what happens.
So I read a bit about these warnings, they are perhaps serious but will not stop the process.
I wish I could select and copy the text from the cmd line, but it will not work and I don't know how to sent it to a text so i will have to type it in!
I ran the batch file, and at the end I get a cGPSMapper header, then the five W008 warnings, then:
Codepage set to : 1252
String Coding : 6 bits
POI info sorting
Layer >>>>>>0<<<<<< generation
Elements to process -->1
Successfully imported: 1 not imported: 0
**** End ****
Elements to process --> 96
File missing: mapset.img, aborting install.
Press any key to continue . . .
So it seems like I'm close but there is an issue with the polygons??
I know it's a lot to look at, thanks for any help.
Ran the same Gmaptools process on my other computer, here is the output:
Seems to have the same warnings, but the 96 elemets get processed successfully. Weird.Code:Please Login or Register to see the links
