As said before use Homeport for Marine charts (Bluecharts etc) and Basecamp for all the other land maps.
Basecamp can't read Marine charts. Homeport can read land maps but only as a reference to show you what is there after you get your feet on land.
Unlock all your .img files with [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] and remove all .unl files from your 60csx.
No need for unl codes and Keygen (...ancient history), that's what I've been doing with my 60csx for a long time now.
I unlock every .img before I copy it on the 60csx, and before I make a mapset of maps with Gmaptool (60csx can read only one gmapsupp.img file that can contain a full map, partial map or mapset).
I don't send mapsets from Mapsource to 60csx anymore (i.e. a combination of 3 partial maps), I send each map as gmapsupp.img, copy them back to PC, unlock each .img and make a mapset of them using Gmaptool.

ok, i now understand that Bluechart won't work in Basecamp. Thank you and I am sorry I did not get that at first.

My problem now is that I can load my Topo maps into my 60csx but not the Bluecharts even though I ran the unlock software. I used to be able to copy both the 5.5 and 9.5 charts in to the 60 but now I get an error when it is done loading. I like doing it with mapsource because i can load the Topo and Bluechart and the 60 would default to the best one when I zoomed in. Now I ca't get the Bluechart to load even though it was fine loading before I ran the unlock software. Any ideas.

    Thanks

I just downloaded and installed Gmaptool. Can I combine Topo and Bluechart maps for my region with this software. do I need a complier to look at the map in mapsource?

On the GPSmap 60CSx, an .unl file is used to associate a locked map to the GPS device. More modern Garmin devices require a .gma file as well.

The .unl file contains an unlock code which contains information about the combination of the associated map and the GPS device.

If you use an unlocked map (a map file processed with [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]) but leave a related .unl file in place, it may conflict with the unlocked map and still not show it.

The .unl file is found in the same location as the map files. In case of the GPSmap 60CSx that will be the Garmin folder. Delete or (better yet) make a backup (copy) of the .unl file and then remove it from your GPS.
