Garmin GPSMAP 64s - Start a route from a selected point?

I am trying to navigate a route using direct routing mode. When I start to navigate my route the gps redirects me to the closest point using my current location. Is there anyway to start my route always from the departure(or first) waypoint?
I tried using the gps demo mode, but this mode does not help me because I need to know the distance to the next point and use the Turn field while I am navigating.
I would appreciate your help.

Only a one way is probably. Route: current location - departure(or first) waypoint - destination.
And make setting for transition on route in menu with your preference (time or distance to waypoint)...
