If the donor and original devices have the exact same hardware, as in matching HWID, then it almost certainly is possible. A likely possible conversion is also determined by matching PCB/PNs. On the device you can hold the 'battery symbol' for ~5-6 seconds to reach a hidden menu named 'Inventory' then press 'Next' (or lower RH corner if word next isn't there on a page) until you reach one named 'Version Information". Press 'Start Test' and then 'More'. PCB P/N for that particular device will show in second row. Read how to find in likely firmwares here: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]. If there's a match then you might be able to successfully convert if flash region layout is the same on both devices and regions have similar space available too. Garmin doesn't make it so easy with modern devices, even if everything looks ok there may be missing features in the converted device. Best to try a 'hybrid-firmware' conversion first. That's done using the original boot.bin blended with the other components of the intended firmware and maintaining the original HWID. Doing so successfully almost guarantees that a full flash of the complete firmware will be safe. A warning: If you don't understand this stuff it's best not to try. If you mess it up you can 'HARD-BRICK' the device and then only a very skilled technician with both the knowledge and hardware can recover and reprogram the flash chip.
