    For around US$ 20.00 including shipping you can get a brand new LCD screen including digitizer on eBay for a nüvi 780. Replacing is not too much of a hassle. You just need to be careful and precise. I've replaced the screen on several nüvi's 765 and could give you guidance if needed.

    [Your turn SF]. Ehhhh Stewie ..... He took it apart and reseated the cables [first post].

    @Ukrop1
    Some digitizers are soldered into the LCD's ribbon and there is a common flat connector, they are an absolute bit*h to repair. Others have a separate connection to the mainboard and are relatively easy to replace. I recall that 6x0, 7x0 and some 2xx share the same screen configuration and the digitizer is separate and easily replaced. They are very cheap, from US$2 to $3 upward posted from China or Honkers. Just be sure to use a hotair gun or hairdryer to loosen the sticky brown tape before removing the old one from the LCD screen. Have a look on ebay.

    That's nothing to do with MSM, it's a standard screen for 7x0 after the 'copyright' screen message and it's referring to a feature of the particular SiRF GPS receiver that's fitted.

    lol You are sharp, Mate! But then again... it's your morning and you've (presumably) had a good night's rest. It's my evening and I had a challenging day at work!
    Nahhh, that's just a lame excuse! I admit: I posted too quick.

    Gotta get one occasionally mate, usually it's you picking up my blues.

    I reckon Ukrop1 is sorted, it's a faulty digitizer for sure so we can mark this 'Solved'.

    Thanks to everybody! Glad to find such nice healthy forum

    Yes, this 780 has three ribbons from screen/digitizer assembly to motherboard. So should be easy fix.

    Another funny moment - I CAN put this unit into calibration mode by holding left bottom corner of the screen and sliding power switch back and forth. So there is SOME life in digitizer. But that's it, I can't get anything else from it.

    I took apart my 765 with hope to swap screen assembly to make sure it's digitizer's problem and not motherboard's. But 765 has just one ribbon coming from screen...

    Oh well, at least I tried.

    Thanks everybody one more time!
