You need kunix's cure, it's sticky in firmware section.

Hi All,
I did something really silly and now my 2455 can not connect to either Windows or MAC PCs
So this is what I did: after update the map, my unit always has to restart to reload the map and I was trying to clean the microSD to reinstall map. But I indeed format the garmin internal memory and all the files on the device are lost.
I was trying to connect the device to Windows 7 machine but the PC does not recognize it as USB drive, so I can not restore the device with my backup (my backup was indeed in MAC, but this is another story).
So now the unit starts but there is no map or what ever files needed to connect to PC.
1) I change the setting in MTP to make it "mass storage" but there is no luck of being recognized.
2) I tried to start the unit in preboot mode by holding power+upper left corner. The windows PC can recognize the GPS for very short time and even I keep pressing the left upper corner it will disappear from the device list in the device management of the Windows PC.
So now I need your help to get the unit to connect to the PC (or indeed recognized by the PC). Any help or comment will be appreciated greatly.
Thanks

You have to navigate to get to the good.

Thank caty. I indeed followed the cure and followed your preboot post. But there are two things during the process.
In the updater.exe window, after my unit showing up in the "USB device", it will only stay for like just 10 seconds. During this time, if I press OK to let it flash, it always saying there is no device connected, even I see it recognized. I think there was two times after changing ports and cable, the flashing starts, soon the USB was not recognized quickly and the flashing will stop.
Do you know what was the cause of this? Thanks.
Bad cable? USB hub? Windows 10?
What error do you get from Updater?

Try with another USB cable.
Have you selected USB option in updater?.

Okay, with another cable. Now it flashed and my Windows PC starts to recognize it!! But the Garmin express in this windows PC does not find this device. Can I unplug it now and connect it to the MAC PC to use Garmin express? Or I still have to reformat it? Thanks.
After cure pc sees it, create a Garmin directory in it, restart nuvi plug it again USB and see if the garmindevice.xml has been created in it.
Reflash nuvi with original firmware, then use Express
