    help Help with 1xxx.

    When I try this on my Nuvi 1490 or 1690, everything goes great until I get to the point of...

    "Drag your rgn file onto the updater.exe and click "USB Device" since it defaults to "Serial Device". The drop-down to the right of "USB Device" will be greyed out until we boot the nuvi into pre-boot mode and connect it with a USB cable."

    I did not get this error on my 1450, but on the 1490 or 1690 at this step when I see the Garmin device (not grayed out) and click OK it says:

    "The Garmin device is not responding. Please ensure the following and try again: 1. The Garmin device's Interface option is set to Garmin or Host mode. 2. The cable is connected to the correct serial port. 3. The Garmin device is turned on."

    Thoughts on this one? Please need helpppppppppppppppp

    @KenanCellik
    Three things:
    First thing - Welcome to GPS Power.
    Second thing- Your unit hasn't stayed in preboot when you see that error.
    Third thing - Second thing doesn't matter this time because presently no 1xxx devices need patched firmware to see maps unlocked with gimgunlock+MapSigPatch. That's because all have 'MSV: --- | GSV: --- ', check the FW_list.txt in initial post.

    If you mean that when you turn it on your unit sticks on the Garmin logo screen then it's bricked. This fw patcher in NOT what you need, you need a cure firmware: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]. But first, look here: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] and here: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]. I'll move these posts over to a discussion thread for that reason.

    Above posts moved from: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ].

    Are you enabling the radio button to the left of 'USB Device' BEFORE you press OK?
