Tool Adding maps to a patched nuvicam

    Hello guys,

I have done steps 1-9 as described and everything is ok.
Installed the Gmapsupp.img that I want on the external sd card, but the garmin is still reading from the internal memory.

This is how my System folder on the Garmin looked like before Step 9 (Took this picture in step 8, the system folder does not appear anymore after step 9):

    New Picture 19

    Thanks

    Repeat point n2.
Set it to Mass storage after reset or firmware update if you want to see .System.
    Is gmapsupp.img in sd unlocked?

Do I need to see the System file all the time?

As for the map, that is a good question. I downloaded the latest one for the area and copied it on the SD Card. Didn't notice if it is locked or unlocked.

My Garmin is simply fighting me back. Did everything by the book, tried to unlock maps, changed the extension and still the same issue.

    Any more ideas?

This is good for nuvicam too.

    Is your sd FAT32 formatted?
How did you name the .img in sd and in which folder did you place it, how did you unlock it?
Does the map show up in Map list? Do you have in nuvicam maps covering the same area?
If you want help give more details.

    Hello Caty,

I have like 3 sd cards, I am sure one of them is formatted FAT32. I will reformat it again.
Downloaded the latest maps to my area, was in a zip folder, unzipped it and an img file appeared. Simply renamed it gmapsupp.
Doesn't show in the map list.
With the existing US maps, what I see is a green screen, no map details but the names of the major cities and the main highway. It seems preloaded as a base map, just in case the owner of the unit wants to purchase an additional map from them.

I tried different extensions to the map, even the old map that I had on my other Nuvi 265 (if I am not mistaken.. the name).
    Gmapsupp
    Gmapprom
    Gmapprom1

I need to try to reformat the SD card with FAT32 and try again.

Your nuvicam can use one map in microSD's Garmin folder, named gmapsupp.img ONLY. If you want you can create a root folder named Map and then it can see multiple .img files with any convenient name [i.e. x:\Map\<any_name>.img], e.g. CNNT_MENA.img. Check that you have 'Hide extensions for known file types' unchecked in Windows Folder Options in case you've named your map 'gmapsupp.img.img' in error. Hard reset or clear nonvol if you haven't already done so after the fw update, in fact do it again regardless.

FAT32 Formatted. Unhide everything and this is what I can see:

    New Picture 21

Plugged it in the Garmin, went outside and the same green screen is appearing again.

Tinkering with the unit, I found "myMaps". Under is there is still the US versions which are ticked. Unticked them, restarted the device and the green screen is still there. This is puzzling...

    SilverSpear

    1. Create a folder Garmin
    2. Place the gmapsupp.img file in the Garmin folder

    @SilverSpear
Do you have a world basemap in nuvicam?
