    Default NA NT 2016.10 Revision, uConnect 8.4N RB5 (2011 Model) Questions..

    Hello all,

    I am attempting to follow this guide;

    Code:
    Please Login or Register to see the links
    So far, I have concluded that I need the following, according to the guide above, please correct me if I'm wrong;

    Mapset (Post #1, CNNAM NT 2016.10_Orig_pc)
    JCV File (Post #1, D3191170B.jcv - SplitScreen Full version Nuvi 24xx 25xx - I would prefer FULL screen, but the guide above specifies D3191170B.jcv?)
    ASR Files (Post #3, ASR-3790: Part1 | Part2 | Part3)

    Am I correct in believing that these files are all compatible?

    I have unlocked the mapset using gimgunlock, then installed the mapset to a USB Pen and ended up with what I believe is an unlocked gmapprom.img. I believe the guide above says to use locked maps, as they will be unlocked during install.

    As far as the following;

    gmaptz.img (time zone file?)
    gmapbmap.img (base map file?)

    Are these necessary when updating? If I do not include them, will the new mapset utilize the already-installed timezone file and base mapset?

    Assuming that holds true, I will soon have the following structure;

    └───Garmin
    . │ gmapprom.img
    . │
    . ├───ASR
    . │ 05DX0YRK.SRX
    . │ 05DX0YRL.ASR
    . │ 05DX0YRM.ASR
    . │ 05DX0YRN.ASR
    . │
    . ├───JCV
    . │ D3191170B.JCV

    Moving along, I also need an unlock code. I have employed JetMouse v1.5 for this. I believe I will input the FID 3767, and my Unit ID (to be determined soon..), select custom mapset, click generate and I should have the unlock code my uConnect Garmin will ask for upon installation?

    My biggest concern is making sure all of these files are compatible, and that the above is correct, so please correct me if I am incorrect in any of the above

    ALSO, to any uConnect 8.4N RB5 owners out there; Garmin Firmware Update? I have 3.20, which looks very outdated. Does anybody know how/where I can update this? I believe the firmware is specific to the uConnect Garmin unit?

    Thanks in advance for any help, big or small!

    Don't use .unl if the map is unlocked. If your unit needs the .unl use a locked img.
    Timezone should be updated to the latest version, the basemap could be the same.
    To update the firmware check on your unit brand site.

    Thank you, I appreciate your reply.

    The firmware is up to date, according to garmin.com/chrysler, but I know it is not the latest firmware available for the 13/14 models. I suppose I am stuck with 3.20, no biggy.

    As for the timezone file, I have one that was "v15"? I guess it was pre-timezone-file-problem? I wasn't around for that update, but would a file this old work? My currently installed maps have a date of 2011, as the car was in production in late 2010.

    As for the locked image, if necessary, I'm not finding it in the thread titled " City Navigator North America NT 2016.10 ORIGINAL". Could I uninstall my currently unlocked 2016.10, delete all files in ProgramData pertaining to it and re-install, to create a locked image with MapInstall?

    Sorry for all of the questions, I am brand new to this.

    EDIT:

    I attempted to install the following;

    Garmin
    gmapprom.img
    gmaptz.img
    -ASR
    --05DX0YRK.srx
    --05DX0YRL.asr
    --05DX0YRM.asr
    --05DX0YRN.asr
    -JCV
    --D3060180B.JCV

    It failed with the error: Error on Reflashing Errocode: 0x 31A2 Please touch screen

    I believe this is due to the map being unlocked, as it validated and got to about 20% installed, roughly 5 minutes into "Maps" it failed with this error.

    I am going to try a locked image now. I uninstalled my unlocked mapset and made sure all remnants were gone in ProgramData/Garmin/Maps. I then reinstalled it and am now making a locked image. Hopefully that does the trick.

    Just an update;

    The above procedure worked perfect! The map needed to be locked, however.

    Now to figure out how to show POI's on the map while navigating, or even while driving around town, as they did in my last vehicle utilizing the Kenwood DNX890HD. For example; Passing by a McDonald's, there would be a McDonald's logo on the display.

    I am not trying to hijack a thread, but rather than starting my own I figured I would ask, I have read several articles on this forum for the last few days. I downloaded the locked PC install file. I just want to make sure I am doing it right, although the maps seems like they take the update, because on info it says 2016 the actual streets don't update. I still have the really old 2011 system.

    I downloaded all 11 files, and the only way I was able to get image was unlocking using PGFT I used that and loaded map onto SD (Does this mean map is unlocked) Sometimes it tells my maps are not compatible, then I reselect maps redo and it takes update. I can actually see new JCV on file system, but maps themselves are still old.

    I tried unlocked images already, and I tried it this way. It only asked me once for unlock code, which I did successfully, but even then maps did not change. I have my RHB on 33.02.01 firmware. I have tried several jcv files 3060130a 3060180b 3191170b and i dont recall the other one any help is greatly appreciated!
