    Default GPSMAP 620 and bluechart

    Hello Everyone!
First of all congrats for the forum, I have been lurking around quite a while and using most of your tutorials, thank you!
Today I signed up as I needed a clarification....I am going to buy a Garmin GPSMAP 620 to use on rental sailboats and I was wondering if I could upload on it the following map "Bluechart G2 Southeast Caribbean VUS030R".
Should I only unlock it following your tutorials or shall I also update/donwgrade or do something else on the Garmin itself?
    Thank you!!!

    M.

    G'day Momotaro, welcome to GPSPower.

AFAIK all plotters are not [yet] inflicted with the problems faced by new auto range in using unlocked maps, so you should be ok using any BlueChart including VUS030R. If unlocked with [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] they should work fine.

Edit: Kenta was quicker [at least we said the same thing though ].

Hey guys, thanks for the super quick reply!!
So quick question to kenta as he owns the 620....I have seen it comes with a marine mount whit a power cable ending in...cables, not a plug (sorry for my poor english, not my first language).
As I should carry it from one boat to another and ideally plug it in the 12V dc socket of the helming station, do you think I can just isolate and forget the nimea wires and solder the red and black for power to a spare 12v plug?
    Thanks again!

It is no problem to use only red and black cable for power and isolate the others cables for NMEA
