    Default Multiple G2 Vision maps/cards

My chart plotter has slots for two cards, and the G2 Vision maps don't over all of the areas I boat. I am in the Boston region. The 511L charts cover all of NY, CT, and RI but stop halfway through Cape Ann (Gloucester/Rockport MA) which is a common boating area. VUS003R covers all of MA and RI but not CT or NY for when I travel the Long Island sound. Does anyone know how the system will handle both maps being installed or the 510L and 511L as it would cover most of the east coast and further than I would be boating.

I have about 8 map sets in my GPS. Just name the file something different but keep the file extension.

Copy one unlocked gmapsupp.img per sd in a Garmin folder and insert in plotter, they will work.

Thank you for the quick replies.

Does do you know how it handles different versions for overlapping areas? Both of the Maps over lap but one is from 2013 and the other is from 2014, will it use the newer one in the overlapping area or show items from both?

Overlapping is not a problem if the map data in the overlaps is identical. Although any data changes are likely to be minor [or even non-existant], problems may occur if there are data differences using 2 versions which have the same precedence and with both selected as you described. Best to disable the chart not being used at the time to be sure. If navigating through the overlap from one chart's exclusive coverage to the other's as i think you're wanting the plotter will probably simply use the later data in which case there won't be any conflict anyway. That particular 'smart' does vary with Garmin devices though. For example some automotive devices have been shown to freeze or crash if faced with conflicting data in 2 versions of the same CN map in certain circumstances.
