Garmin Basecamp ejects Nuvi

I've just downloaded NTU 2015.40 using Garmin Express (with the option instal on device and computer) and it failed halfway through. It then reported a newer version of Express was available, which I downloaded and installed then started the download process again. This time it continued using the part downloaded files and giving me the option to instal to the SD card as the map doesn't fit on the Nuvi - but didn't give me the option this time to install to the computer and device.

The download progressed and the map was installed successfully on the Nuvi (3590)/ SD card. However the map did not install in Basecamp - the files are still on my computer in the Garmin Express file but I can find no way or Garmin app to get them into Basecamp.

Also every time i launch Basecamp it starts loading maps (NTU 2015.40) from the Nuvi but when the progress bar gets almost to the end the Nuvi disc and SD card disc are ejected from my Mac. If I don't launch basecamp the disc stay happily mounted all day.

I've tried re-installing Basecamp but it's still ejecting the discs. I've checked the Nuvi and SD card disc in Disc Utility and they are fine.

Any ideas?

About no CNEU install in Basecamp, it's a bug of the latest version of Express.

You need a GE older version if you like to install it in your Mac.

About the BC map loading failure: are you sure the map in Nuvi is ok ? Does BC show it if you select it?

Hi Catymag,

Thanks for the info - boy Garmin software is flakey - or at least it is on a Mac - simple procedures like a map update become major issues taking hours !

I have made some progress. I ejected the SD Card from the Nuvi, placed it in a card reader then connected both the card reader and the Nuvi to the Mac.

I then launched BaseCamp and it managed to load the map data from the Nuvi/SD card without ejecting them both.

I then launched Express and started the process of re-installing NTU 2015.40 I found the "view details" page and this gave me the option of installing the map to Nuvi/ Nuvi + Computer / Computer. I selected the computer only option and it did successfully install the map to BaseCamp (despite the map already being installed on the Nuvi SD card). So it appears, fingers crossed, to be working.

One other thing I did though I haven't done on previous map updates was to log on to the Garmin website, put in my serial number and request an unlock code. This downloaded an unlock code to the SD card. I don't know if this was necessary ( I have Garmin lifetime map updates for Europe) or if it was the thing that stopped Garmin Basecamp ejecting the discs.......

I think you updated GE to v4.0.11.0, now it gives option to install to Basecamp. Nice it works now

Unlock code is necessary or map wont be unlocked in nuvi.

v4.0.11.0 version includes the following changes:
•Added improved notifications around ANT Stick use.
•Added more installation options to map reinstalls.
•Added device specific guidance for adding devices to Express.
