Default Can't open standalone/not installed maps in windows 7

I'm trying to install downloaded maps where you import a registry file as opposed to the ones that come with their own installer, but they don't show up in mapsource at all - on my 32 bit xp machine they come up and unlock just fine. My windows 7 machine is 64 bit and I've tried on another windows 7 64 bit machine. I think I read that this does happen with 64 bit systems?

I have gmap folders installed in my 7 x64 at:
    C:\ProgramData\Garmin\Maps
    All working fine
You can test if gmap is properly installed with:

Use Basecamp now, MS is discontinued. Some maps work badly in MS, especially Garmin topos, City Navigators give problems, once transferred in device, with routing in some zones.

You have to navigate to get to the good.

The key in the registry of a 64b Windows is "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Garmin\Mapsource ..." it means, that the difference between 32b and 64b is the part "Wow6432Node\".
