    Maybe you've formatted it incorrectly. The 6x0 internal memory is formatted in FAT [FAT16] not FAT32 if it's one of the early/regional models with a small internal memory, but larger 1.5GiB> memory units use FAT32. Never use the built-in Windows tool to format, it can cause problems. Redo the format using [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] and then create a folder in the root name Garmin, put a [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] in it [use a non-DEM if you can for space saving], safely disconnect from PC, boot it, connect to WebUpdater to get all other necessary files and finally add a detail map for your area. If you want to replace a map which the device is entitled to originally then hook up to MapUpdater or GarminExpress as appropriate. Otherwise use an unlocked map from the Index: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ].

    hi thanks for answering me , my device has a 2gb internal memory ( i have bought it at the begining of the commercial life of this product, i have formated it with windows
    vista tool by mistake , i was thinking to format an sd card witch was in my laptop but unfortunately i formated the internal memory of the nuvi because i try unsucessfully since one week to put in it an actual map to give him a second life at at the end i think i was not knowing what i was doing at all and i made this mistake; the device boots and shows menus correctly but is fully empty...i am going to try what you told me in your last post , thank you for helping me

    edit : just now i have made allyou told me , foramtted with rmprepusb in fat 32 with option showed in the picture of the post you linked me ( my unit has near 1,9 gb internal memory , so used fat 32) afer created a folder named Garmin and putted inside it the basemap "nuvi gmapbmap.zip" , booted the device after secure disconected from computer , then runed webupdater to load files needed , but the trouble is still the same as last days , when device is running there is map available to navigate , when i choose in the device "display map" thereis no road , anything just the vehicle icon , when i go in the map menu of the device : there is not any map listed... don't know what to do else ...

    OK, for a 2 GiB unit format it in FAT32 exactly as shown below using RMPrepUSB, create the Garmin folder and it should boot fully:

    OK thanks , i have done it , but the trouble nowis when the device is on there is not any map recognized by it , i putted inside the garmin folder (in the root of the devide's memory) a basemap but the device doesn't see any map ;i downloaded from the map index the mapsource data 2015.20 locked ; intalled it + installed mapsource from garmin , then replaced the mapsource.exe by the patched one , after unlocked the map with JM-KG-v1.5+5Digit+ChecksumFix.exe ;

    but iin mapsource impossible to select any map portion to send it to my devide ( in mapsource i choose the "select" tool to select map portions to send to the device , but when i clic on maps portion i whant to choose there is not any action....
    bored with this device , since one week i am on it all the day time and no result ...

    Well done. 6xx only supports one map in SD card, named gmapsupp.img in Garmin folder i.e. x:/Garmin/gmapsupp.img . The card can be formatted in FAT32 but the img file must be under 2GiB in size.

    Thread marked 'solved'.
