I understood that was to extract the contents to the card, not the rar itself. If it wouldn't be a lot of trouble i Wouldn't mind having the modified rgn file, I didn't know you could only use Jill.

All right, i'll made it for you but i do need for you to understand and acknowledge that flashing any modified fw is not without risk even when using original boot.bin and retaining HWID.

With the 41, yes that's what i said: to extract it to the card i.e. 'extract' as in 'decompress' or 'unrar'. Please make sure you have the 41.bin before you go any further.

So, here's the modded rgn file and some other TWN specific files and US voices. The rgn's been changed to accept the US/EU fw voices Jack, Emily, Daniel, Karen, Lee, Sangeeta, Javier [ES]. Paulina [ES] and American English & British English [both non-TTS]. Jill and Mei-Ling [Chinese] are original voices in TWN fw so are unchanged. Some of the vpm files are old ones, i've used them to get the job done but you can connect to WebUpdater and dl any updated voices offerred if you want. Be aware that some pronunciation may be a little quaint when using these EN voices with the TWN fw.

Brief How To: Extract the file TWN_Files_Flash.rar somewhere convenient on your PC. Connect in MSM. Copy the two folders named 'US_files' [it's empty] and 'TWN_Files' to your 765's Garmin folder. Move your existing folders ExtData, Help, RemoteSW, Text and Voice to the folder US_Files. Open the folder TWN_Files and move all its sub-folders to the Garmin folder. Safely disconnect from PC. Open the folder named Updater on your PC and drag 087001000330.rgn onto Updater.exe and leave it open and visible on your desktop with the 'USB Device' radio button enabled. Put the unit into preboot and immediately press 'OK' when you see it's details appear. Keep holding the screen at least until you see 'Loader' appear on the screen. Hopefully, you'll enjoy your new toy and won't brick it. Good luck, here'e the rar file:

After installing the firmware and updating the language files, I note several zip files in /Garmin folder. Can I remove these? And I have discovered one thing that i can't do without, my spanish english dictionary. Do you know of any way to install the six language dictionary instead of the chinese english? Another weird thing, I never got the screen asking me to choose my locale. Is that normal?

Usually the unit will delete zip files once they are extracted on the unit, if you don't know what they are leave them for now.

Maybe choice of locale isn't offered initially with TWN fw, i can't recall but that would be unusual. However it should definitely be offered on hard reset, did you do that?

I'll check on the dictionary and get back however i think you might be only able to use Chinese. My ES is so bad that the Mexicans would think i'm talking Chinese and/or Greek anyway, but stand by.

I think you'll need to convert it to SG/MY if you want to use the dictionary. My NA 765's sample file works ok with it, but not with TWN fw.

Yeah, i guess ..... but, you'll owe me a beer or thirty if i ever lower my standards and venture into Florida again.

Aussie 'strine' saying: Jusavagomate! Follow the tut i linked for how to make the hybrid fw using us/eu boot and sg/my fw_all, keeping the hwid original us/eu [0870]. If you do cock-up badly we should be able to recover it easily provided you've set the hwid override in RGN_Tool to 0870 before saving.

The voice pack i made for you will be ok except that not all of them will work. Use Karen, Daniel or Jill to test, they'll be ok. I don't think the other EN TTS voices will work nor will either of the ES but they won't brick it. Remove all other voice files except those 3 and also keep the non-TTS American English [file name: English_American_vpm] before re-flashing if you're concerned. I'll remake the fw for the others and post a pack for you if you're happy with the dictionary.

So the spanish tts won't work with the gps, you think it might work with the dictionary? the 4.xxx broke the spoken phrase function in the 765 and I don't think they have any plans to fix it.

Ok whoever wrote garmin express needs a good kick in the nuts. I specifically clicked install Jill and what did it do? installed 4.5 so I had to do the damn thing over again. But it works.

My dictionary works only when i try to get it to pronounced spanish it says wrong audio or something. I don't think it likes the newest tts audio. Think If i found an older version it would work?
