Default Display Issue with Nuvi 3597lm

Hello everyone, please I need assistance with my 3597. The display keeps going back to 20% even after I set it to 100% and the time-out to "never". It also keeps on coming back on after sometime as I'm driving and dims back to the 20%. Please assist.

Do you have gmaptz.img on your device?
Do you try to make hard reset?

No I don't have gmaptz.img on the device, and I also didn't make any hard reset.
In fact, it's brand new. Straight out of the box!

Did you set it to MSM before checking for gmaptz.img? It's in the hidden .System folder which won't show if the device is still set to the factory default mode of MTP, read: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ].

Loly is suggesting that you should reset it if you didn't try that already because it's the First Aid/Immediate Action for any unit acting strangely. 2 ways: (i) With unit fully OFF [not standby], press & hold lower RH corner of screen while powering on and follow on-screen prompt. (ii) With unit on, press 'Speed' field on map page>Press and hold centre of Speedometer for ~6 seconds>Developer Info>scroll down to Non Vol Statistics>Press menu bars in top LH corner>Clear Nonvol.

First backup your favourties if you want to restore them. If you need to know more detail, this info is found on the forum by searching or reading the [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ].

If It's brand new, take it back to the shop !

Sure dasil, if a hard reset doesn't fix it he should do that. A reset takes only half a minute to try ....

Thanks a lot for the volume of assistance fellas. Fixed it by changing the time variable to "pm" instead of "am". This is one community I have always held in high esteem due to your high level of concern in solving people's problems. A big THANK YOU to one and all. Respect!

Check 'Automatic' on the time screen and it'll always get it right. On main screen ['Where To?'/'View Map'] touch the time in the top banner. Thread marked solved. Thanks for reporting back.

Automatic change of brightness of the display.

    it works here so:
For half an hour to sunset brightness of the screen makes 100%
After that brightness starts decreasing from 100% to 60%
At the time of a sunset the display will pass into the night mode (dark)
After that brightness will decrease further with 60 to 20% within half an hour after a sunset.
    During sunrise in reverse order

transient period of change of brightness of the display 1 hour on a sunset and at sunrise.

P.s. Brightness! Not a color Mode!
