same way they do with Nüvi units?

    Thanx.

I need v6 (2016/2017) map dump for C Class (w205). Can anyone share?

Mercedes Benz Software does not update map. It just updates the software to 6.0
    Thank you

Please note, that there are different versions of the garmin cards for different models.

Let me note a couple of differences (despite the differed cpu architecture)

NTG5Star1 e.g. for the new A-Class -> this is the dump that Adamek uploaded

the card uses a fat32 file system. Volume Label is NO LABEL

    NTG5E new C-Class (BR 205) and V-Class

    Uses a exfat file system
has a non standard volume label (see Post #324 for details).

For the issues related to writing the raw image to a 32GB card for Adamek's dump.

look at this raw disk info taken out of parted

    for a Samsung EVO+ 32 GB Card.

    Code:
Please Login or Register to see the links
for Adamek's Dump of the 32GB Garmin Card.

    Code:
Please Login or Register to see the links
You notice the size differs by 131072 sectors (62552064 sectors vs. 62683136 sectors).
Which means the Garmin card is 67108864 Bytes (64MB) bigger than the Samsung card

In other words you can not write the complete dump onto a 32GB EVO+ Card, you would need 64GB Card.
As there are 64MB missing the file system will be corrupt and also the partition is outside the physical boundaries of the sdcard, which is most likely causing the car not to accept the card.

Anyway, this version uses a simple FAT32 file system, so you could just use any block device (SD Card/USB Stick) that is larger than the original dump to copy the dump onto it.
An then just use a simple file copy to copy over the files to the 32GB EVO+ card whit the changed CID.
Which is pretty much what ato did, however there is still a possibility that some files are corrupted when using a 32GB card.

In other words, for what we know at the moment there is no nee to use a dump for the NTG5Star1 devices (e.g. new A-Class).

For the NTG5E new C-Class (BR 205) and V-Class its a bit more complicated.

First of all there are 2 types of cards 16GB and 32GB (never Map 2015/2016).
Both also use over capacity so they won't fit on a standard 16GB/32GB card, so a 32GB/64GB card would be required.
The simple method is do use a raw dump and write the 16GB card to a 32GB card and the 32GB card to a 64GB card.
As there are no EVO+ 16GB cards available for people with older 16GB cards that should be the preferred method.

As stated earlier the cards are using the exfat file system and are btw. violating the exfat volume label lenght conventions
    Code:
Please Login or Register to see the links
by using a longer name (12 instead of 11 characters).

But here is what I found working using a new 32GB EVO+ Card (there might be other methods too).

#1 take a note of the original label of your card (e.g 006-B0901-00)
#2 format the EVO+ card with a windows pc (I used a Windows 10 BOX) use exfat format (note you can not rename the card to the label as windows will not allow it).
    #3 change CID of 32GB EVO+ card
#4 use a Linux machine to change the label of the EVO+ SD card e.g (exfatlabel /dev/mmcblk0p1 006-B0901-00)
#5 copy over the content of the original SD Card to the EVO+ Card

On Ubuntu Live you might need to install exfat support using aptitude
    Code:
Please Login or Register to see the links
Of course this also works with a 16GB card as the source so you will able to use the entire file system.

    WARNING!

If you did the steps above with a 16GB card and use that card with the MB Download Manager it will offer you the 2015 Map update (V5).
The process takes a couple of hours and will replace all maps with the new ones and also create new unlock files.

DO NOT PUT A CARD UPDATED WITH THIS METHOD IN YOUR CAR!

Uetzwurschd and I stumlbled across an issue where the card and NOT OTHER CARD will be accepted any more.
The unit needs to be reset by the dealer and you need a new card.

So I strongly advice everybody not to try this. Of course you can update the software itself but NOT THE MAPS.
I've read through most of the pages but just one thing pop into my mind for those with 16gb (me including!). Is the point of going through all these is just to get the software update as you have said the new card with the updated map through MB manager will brick the car sat nav?

    Hey all,
I'm very interested in this process as well. Sadly, it appears all the download links for the US version C300 Audio 20 are dead. I see several people have requested, but don't see many replies. Any ideas where this can be obtained?

    Thanks!

    Hi guys,

I recently bought a genuine SD card for the Garmin Map Pilot and it works great in my 2016 C300. However, the map version installed is 5.0 and the SW version is 25.18. When I used Mercedes Download Manager, it showed there was an update to Map Version 6.2 and SW version 27.x. I started the update but halfway through the application froze. So, I restarted it and attempted to do the update again. However, this time when logging in with a random user name and password (like before) I get the message "The registration server has identified the SD card invalid garmin please contact your hotline for assistance". I tried deleting GarminDevice.xml and performed a full restore on the SD card through the download manager, but it still downloads the old version (5.0). The card still works fine in the car but I am unable to login to Mercedes Download Manager to perform an update. Has anyone seen this problem before and is there a fix for it? Thanks.

Update: I just noticed the name of the SD card is missing a digit compared to the one on the label. My label shows XXX-XXXXX-XX but on my computer the SD card is missing the last digit. Could that be why it is unable to update? I tried renaming it to the correct label, but Mac OS won't allow me to do it for some reason...

My guess is that card it's not 100% genuine!
I never have tested with a incomplete or total different Label I don't know if the label is the origin of your problem but you can correct that on a Linux PC.

1)Ubuntu OS + PC + Internal SD reader

    Install exfatlabel
    Command line:
    sudo apt-get install exfat-fuse exfat-utils

Change the label of the SD Card to be exactly equal to printed label (must use Linux because of 12 characters long of the original label - Windows only admit 11...dont know if existe any app for Mac OS that can change the label to 12 characters)

Command Line to change label (if your device its mmc0 if other adapt the command) :
    exfatlabel /dev/mmcblk0p1 [Original 12long label]
