Thanks for the tip, it's almost working.

First try : I could launch the software!!! However some files were corrupted and I've got an error message "No map found".
Then, I try to repeat the operation a few times : 1/ Restore image to sdcard 2/ Manually copy all files from image to sdcard. But I've came back to my fist problem (Please eject the Garmin MAP PILOT SD ... verify that the write protection ...)

Could you detail precisely what you did to make it working?

I managed to test successfully a working clone of my own Garmin Map Pilot 2014 original card on a Mercedes C Class by rewriting the CID on a 32Gb Samsung MicroSD EVO+ with evoplus_cid on a Samsung SIII GT i9300.
Dumped a RAW copy of the card with HDDRawCopy and verified that the card is working perfectly.

Great to hear some positive news.

I assume you were using an activated card or was it unused before?

The card was already activated, the downside of making a raw copy is that a 32 Gb card ends up with 16 Gb of unallocated space and I couldn't find a way to extend the partition, in addition I don't know if the copy protection also performs a checksum on the SD card partition.

    1. Changed CID
    2. Wrote files to SD card using HDDRawCopy. (nothing worked)
    3. Changed CID on SD #2
    4. Simply copied files from SD #1 to SD #2 (worked fine)

I tried to format the SD #1 by different ways and different file systems but nothing helped. Even simple file copying after that to the SD #1 didn't helped. I was lucky to have another SD card.

Could you please try to create a clonezilla image?
Btw: I have successful created a copy of my own card with
    1. Copy MB card to Evo card with clonezilla
    2. Read cid from MB card with Laptop and Ubuntu live cd.
    3. write cid with galaxy duos to Evo.
The only missing point is to expand the 16gb exfat partition. I think it should be possible to create this new as 32gb partition, if we leave the first 4 MB untouched.

Maybe I can shed some light on a few questions that come up during the last couple of days.

Please note, that there are different versions of the garmin cards for different models.

Let me note a couple of differences (despite the differed cpu architecture)

NTG5Star1 e.g. for the new A-Class -> this is the dump that Adamek uploaded

the card uses a fat32 file system. Volume Label is NO LABEL

    NTG5E new C-Class (BR 205) and V-Class

    Uses a exfat file system
has a non standard volume label (see Post #324 for details).

For the issues related to writing the raw image to a 32GB card for Adamek's dump.

look at this raw disk info taken out of parted

    for a Samsung EVO+ 32 GB Card.

    Code:
Please Login or Register to see the links
for Adamek's Dump of the 32GB Garmin Card.

    Code:
Please Login or Register to see the links
You notice the size differs by 131072 sectors (62552064 sectors vs. 62683136 sectors).
Which means the Garmin card is 67108864 Bytes (64MB) bigger than the Samsung card

In other words you can not write the complete dump onto a 32GB EVO+ Card, you would need 64GB Card.
As there are 64MB missing the file system will be corrupt and also the partition is outside the physical boundaries of the sdcard, which is most likely causing the car not to accept the card.

Anyway, this version uses a simple FAT32 file system, so you could just use any block device (SD Card/USB Stick) that is larger than the original dump to copy the dump onto it.
An then just use a simple file copy to copy over the files to the 32GB EVO+ card whit the changed CID.
Which is pretty much what ato did, however there is still a possibility that some files are corrupted when using a 32GB card.

In other words, for what we know at the moment there is no nee to use a dump for the NTG5Star1 devices (e.g. new A-Class).

For the NTG5E new C-Class (BR 205) and V-Class its a bit more complicated.

First of all there are 2 types of cards 16GB and 32GB (never Map 2015/2016).
Both also use over capacity so they won't fit on a standard 16GB/32GB card, so a 32GB/64GB card would be required.
The simple method is do use a raw dump and write the 16GB card to a 32GB card and the 32GB card to a 64GB card.
As there are no EVO+ 16GB cards available for people with older 16GB cards that should be the preferred method.

As stated earlier the cards are using the exfat file system and are btw. violating the exfat volume label lenght conventions
    Code:
Please Login or Register to see the links
by using a longer name (12 instead of 11 characters).

But here is what I found working using a new 32GB EVO+ Card (there might be other methods too).

#1 take a note of the original label of your card (e.g 006-B0901-00)
#2 format the EVO+ card with a windows pc (I used a Windows 10 BOX) use exfat format (note you can not rename the card to the label as windows will not allow it).
    #3 change CID of 32GB EVO+ card
#4 use a Linux machine to change the label of the EVO+ SD card e.g (exfatlabel /dev/mmcblk0p1 006-B0901-00)
#5 copy over the content of the original SD Card to the EVO+ Card

On Ubuntu Live you might need to install exfat support using aptitude
    Code:
Please Login or Register to see the links
Of course this also works with a 16GB card as the source so you will able to use the entire file system.

    WARNING!

If you did the steps above with a 16GB card and use that card with the MB Download Manager it will offer you the 2015 Map update (V5).
The process takes a couple of hours and will replace all maps with the new ones and also create new unlock files.

DO NOT PUT A CARD UPDATED WITH THIS METHOD IN YOUR CAR!

Uetzwurschd and I stumlbled across an issue where the card and NOT OTHER CARD will be accepted any more.
The unit needs to be reset by the dealer and you need a new card.

So I strongly advice everybody not to try this. Of course you can update the software itself but NOT THE MAPS.

I could finally make Adamek's dump work on my Class B !!!

With my first try, my sd card get corrupted. I could launch the software, but the maps couldn't load.
I try to restore (more than 10 times) the sd card, but I couldn't make it work anymore...

Then I restored my sd card with the used image of Adamek, and it worked!!!
