@piotrscs Is your version Audio 20 Cd, isn't it? According to the manual on the root directory of your copy, It seems the Audio 20 Cd version.

The base Audio System is called Audio 20 USB.
There is an enhanced Version available called Audio 20 with Touchpad ( Mercedes Dealer code 522 ).
As the name suggest this unit has the touchpad functionality AND also some more wiring to connect the GPS antenna

To be able to use the Garmin Navigation functionality you need:

Garmin Map Pilot preparation ( Mercedes Dealer code 355 )
which depends on Audio 20 with Touchpad ( Mercedes Dealer code 522 ).

    And of course

The Garmin Map Pilot package ( Mercedes Dealer code 357 ),
which in essence is the SD with the maps and the software functionality requires both.

According to my MB Dealer Code 355 can be retrofitted if Code 522 is installed.

Code 355 is the GPS Antenna and wiring which can only be connected to a Audio 20 with Touchpad unit (522).

To safe some $$$ when ordering you should by package 355 and 522 and get an unused SD Card from Ebay.

The owners manual on the SD card is specific to the Garmin functions which have the dependencies I mentioned above.

In fact, I ordered my new cla class with audio CD with prewired system for garmin code 355.
My first intention obviously is buy an unused sd card in order to save some money. But, on the Internet, there are many sd card, but all are Audio 20 CD touch pad version, and as you know the cla class do not have touchpad.
For this reason, I was wondering if maybe the touchpad version can used only with the standard controller, in other words if this version is compatible with audio CD without touchpad.
Although, at the first sight should not be because there are an especific version for cars without touchpad.

If you were able to order code 357 with your Audio 20 System then it is very likely that you only need the SD card.

At least in the C-Class (not CLA) you can't order 357 without 522. I don't think there is a real technical difference between Audio20 with or without touchpad.
It's just the typical Mercedes Benz money making policy.

I think they will make Garmin Map Pilot the new standard, they started with C-Class / V-Class now also coming in the 2015 E-Class.

Very likely the SD cards will work for any of the new generation Audio 20.

BTW, I just checked if you select Garmin for the CLA you also need code 522 but it is only called Audio 20CD including Garmin preparation.
The Garmin System itself is called 357 as well. So I guess it's the same SD. But you have to have the new Audio 20.

So far, nobody was able to use a cloned SD card on another vehicle.
Also we know that a cloned card does NOT work on the original vehicle as the CID does not match.

I have an idea. The following program should be used, and see what the result.

[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

    @piotrscs please do it.

This is exactly what I did, I did a raw copy of my own card and cloned it to anther SD card.
    It did NOT work.

There is a simple explanation for that, the CID of an SD Card ca NOT be cloned.
With a raw dump you only clone all the partitions etc. of the original card.

The CID is unique on every SD card, hence even you create an exact clone of the SD card content it still won't have the same CID.

This is how Garmins protection is working since years.

Do you know where I could change the CID parameters of the program? Do you have a other idea?

Far as I know, the CID of the SD card can not change because is in a prom, memory that is only write once.

But I found this post where people is talking about SDs that it can rewrite because are manufactured with eprom.

    Code:
Please Login or Register to see the links
Knowing the CID of the original SD, and buying this kind of SD we can make a perfect clone.

Another way, would be change the CID number in the garmin software, this number should be on the *.unl or *.gma files. But the problem is that the information is encrypted.

That's correct. I hoped that a original card is enough. But now it's clearly that the individual CID from the SD will used for creating the files :-(

I hope that someone finds a developer, who can write a crack... Is this forum the right place for such a inquiry?
