Today I received a prestine second hand nuvi 3790 to play with, It's my intention to flash one of them with the 34xx firmware.
Before I do that I want to know what updates the 3790 dashboard on S/W v5.00
originally I thought this was done by the Garmin webupdater app ,but doesn't appear to be the case?
Both devices under "about" apart from Unit ID obviously share the same information, as follows....
Model nuvi 3790
Unit ID: **********
Software version 5.00
Audio version 2.50 British Emily
Text Version 3.10 British English
GPS Firmware 2.60
Bluetooth Firmware 3.0.35 P55
PMIC Version 824
TSC Version 1.23
The only mod I did was on the older device, which came from TSC version 1.16 to 1.23, but that obviously bares no relation to the dashboard anyway.
Both dashboards are totally different,
My original unit has the dashboard to the right of the screen, while my other has the older style dashboard which is a bar at the bottom of the screen which allows the map to be viewed more.
Anyone here know how to change dashboards in the 37xx series?
Thanks.

The difference between stupidity and genius is that genius has its limits.
Albert Einstein.
If you convert your 3790 to a 3490, you will be able to design your own dashboards.Internal thread here: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ].Code:Please Login or Register to see the links
Garmin, how much is 30 pieces of silver for Judas today? Were they worthy for crucifix of GPSPower?
yep!
Been reading all those posts regarding 37>40 satellite reception accuracy problems
However my latest GPS unit came with hardware V11 instead of my original hardware V8
So followed Caty's guide & flashed 34xx on the nuvi with V11 hardware.
It upgraded the GPS firmware to 3.04.03 from 2.60
flashed with v8.20 software for the 34xx & it works flawlessly (no arrow jumping)
I'm interested to know if my Original nuvi with V8 hardware, v5.00 software could somehow have that single dashboard replaced for the glass semi transparent dashboard which allows more map viewing...
I don't mind experimenting now I have a backup device if anyone thinks It's doable
