Default nuvi 750 LifeTime map update problem

I have two nuvi 750 with LifeTime map, only one has a problem when using current versions of Garmin Express or MapUpdate.exe.

The one unit receives error message when trying to update map.
“The update is unable to determine where the specified map file should be written”

I have tried the following to fix the problem
    -Reinstall firmware using WebUpdater
    -Delete GarminDevice.xml then (Hard Reset)
-Remove unused voice files then use WebUpdater to download new files
-Update smaller map region Southern US & Mexico (1.2GB)
-Clone method copy GarminDevice.xml to 4GB SD card
    -Used older version of MapUpdater.exe

I can update LifeTime map using the following methods
-Download map to computer then use Mapinstall to device or SD Card
-Copy the GarminDevice.xml from the good nuvi 750 then change the unit ID

    Comments
The unit is used almost every day in Mexico second larges city without having an issue or problem.

    Help would be GREATLY appreciated..

Probably this unit generates a corrupt Garmindevice.xml.
Delete unit id and upload it here please so we can check.

I have uploaded both corrupt and good GarminDevice.xml from nuvi 750, also removed unit ID from both files.
    Spoiler: xml files

It may well have LM, but the registration and unlock codes are missing from the xml. This is the same as what can happen if region 41 is corrupt or if it has been erased.

Do you have a backup of rgn41 made before this problem occurred? If so restore it and the codes should then be correctly generated in the xml and your LM subcription recognised.

The reason you can dl the map using the other unit's xml with UID changed is simply that the Garmin server needs to see that the GarminDevice.xml contains this info between </Id> and - <MassStorageMode>:

    <RegistrationCode>XXXXXXX</RegistrationCode>-<Unlock><Code>XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX</Code></Unlock>-<Unlock><Code>XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX</Code></Unlock>

I had no problems using the LifeTime map until 2014.30
I have a system file backup but no region 41 backup.

Can I use a region 41 backup from another nuvi 750?

You can not!!! It is very bad idea!
But you can put old garmindevice.xml (instead new broken) from archive for this device and run MapUdater or Dashboard...
Garmin, how much is 30 pieces of silver for Judas today? Were they worthy for crucifix of GPSPower?

Even better still, copy your registration and unlock codes from the old xml and paste them into the lastest xml directly on the device while connected in Mass Storage Mode [don't reboot BEFORE the update, or you'll lose them again]. That will save you being offered files and fw already on the device when updating with GarminExpress.
