Default limit of 46 CityXplorer / City Navigator / OSM maps on microSD:/Map besides the CN on the nuvi

If you put more than 46 CityXplorer / City Navigator / OSM maps on microSD:/Map, some of them won’t be displayed in Tools-Settings-Map-Info and these maps can not be used.

Exception: Mixed with topo maps, I didn’t found a rule for that. When I brought Topo Germany 2012 Pro on the microSD, then this topo + 39 CN/CX/OSM = 40 img were shown besides the CN on the device, with Topo Swiss 3 vectormap it was this one + 42 CN/CX/OSM = 43 img besides the CN on the device , with Topo Austria v3 it was this one + 43 CN/CX/OSM = 44 img besides the CN on the device.

This information is for users of nuvi 1xxx/2xxx/3xxx who want to add a lot of single maps on 1 microSD in microSD:/Map. Me personally, I prefer to use single CityXplorer img instead of All-in-one CityXplorer img (“FullCX”) because I want to be flexible and maybe sometimes put 1 or 5 or more CityXplorer on a microSD depending on where I drive and the empty space. By the way, I know that much stuff on 1 microSD makes the boot time rise from like 30sec to about 1min and the device work slowlier, so it makes sense to put only a few maps there that you use everyday.

For this limit of img-Files the size of the img-Files is not important, I tested (nuvi1390) with bigger and smaller CityXplorer and City Navigator and OSM (i.e. from garmin.openstreetmap.nl). The other limit is the general Garmin limit “Each expandable memory device will be able to recognize up to 2,025 detailed mapping segments” (except Oregon about 4000).

(I haven’t found information about that kind of limit before, so I thought I post it.)
