Ok, that makes sense for your comment now. Sorry for that, i see what you mean now. I misunderstood because you had mentioned Giomen, and his comment was made immediately after Caty's video, and before my video.
But every cloud has a silver lining, examining the first video carefully shows the real benefit of ALG for truckies ....... [i reckon]

I'm supporter of simplification idea. Especially for device like car navigation, where you can't watch it all the time but you only get a glimpses of current situation. I prefer map over quasi real rendering, icon over 3D building, LA over JCV.

Garmin goes other way, it drops simplification for marketing show. It makes devices which looks funny when you toy with them in a shop but adds features, which can be annoying in a real use. And in many cases these features are handicapped, like trips without VIA or single-line ALG.

What I like in nuvis is that you can remove most of gimmicks. If you find JCV distracting, you can remove its file. If you notice, that FastRouting damages routing in your county, you can remove its file. If traffictrends makes route calculation unreliable, you can disable it. If DEM shading makes rendering of map too slow, you can delete it. I hope that this nice feature of nuvi remains in new models and user will be able to disable ALG too.

I prefer portrait mode. I wonder how does this new show look in portrait mode?
    Thanks, Kanopus

    Has anyone seen this?:

    active lane guidance plus

I found it after viewing Rich Owings' review from Caty's post, which has a link to another of his reviews titled 'First look at the Garmin nuvi 2013 Advanced series':

    Interface changes

Next up, let’s look at how the interface has changed. You can see active lane guidance in the screenshot at the top of this page. There was some concern that lane guidance would not show up in the next maneuver indicator, but as you can see, it is there. .........
Surely it's the same across the 2/3x97 range and it's not just the 2597 that shows multiple lines on ALG, so i guess only some crucially complicated multiple lane exits get the extra pink lines, such as that pic which shows a major interstate duplex, I-75 spitting 3 lanes off and duplexing with I-85 near Atlanta to head downtown. Brother, that would not be a fun drive in morning peakhour if you were new to town.

I am an ald fashion guy and...my view is that the most important thing for a navigation is its mapping. What does it includs as a data, how is it structured, how is it routing etc.etc. So I have not choose any of the choices. Unfortunatelly, Garmin...Navteq...

I agree totally with that sentiment. Good basics are way more important than fancy gee gaws ... but crikey mikey, it's fun to play with new toys, isn't it?

I am wondering why garmin don't make a nuvi with a Navigon software on it.

Professional pride perhaps? Or maybe they think not many would buy Navigon devices if they can get that software on Garmin.
At least they imported the map theme [and the arrow of course, the Navigon arrow's important! ]

I do not sure that Navigon, Tom-Tom and Navitel styles is perfect. As well as other who like old fashion Garmin minimalism (without unexpected picture appearancing action and many small details) on screen and do not like caraudio with bright big screen and spinning Ferris wheel in the center...

Only one exclusion: Garmin voice prompts often concede on the timeliness of sounding to Tom-Tom.
