    Default Confused about traffic

I know what traffic is - get stuck in it occasionally Seriously, I'm finding what you can and can't do a little confusing.

I've got a 2445 without traffic services. I didn't buy the traffic version as I don't use the satnav often enough to warrant the cost. I live in the UK but purchased it primarily for a US road trip next summer. If I purchased a UK receiver it won't work in the US and vice versa I think. Besides, I'd still have to subscribe to a service.

My question is really on trafficTrends. According to the manual, it records tracks and sends data to Garmin, who use it to help others. Is there any downloadable content for the US that is going to be of use to me, or without purchasing a receiver etc. can the device just use the info I build up on it to amend my personal routes in time?

You Cannot Use Traffic or TrafficTrends without a receiver.
TrafficTrends is supposed to learn the Traffic in your area and build some sort of a database that will help the Nuvi to calculate more efficient routes based on Historic Traffic Data.
It can only do this if you have a traffic receiver connected and a valid subscription to one of the traffic providers in your area (country).
I believe that traffic in the US is free if you are willing to put up with adverts. Maybe someone from the US can provide more info.

You Can also use traffic by means of SmartPhone Link if your Nuvi and Smartphone is supported and you have purchaced the subscriptions for your Country.

The difference between stupidity and genius is that genius has its limits.
