eTrex legend hcx problem

My relatively new eTrex Legend hcx has developed a problem in that the zoom-in button doesn't work. It has basically rendered the device useless. Anybody seen this before?. Any ideas?

It may be a defect on the button, simple cold solder or bad contact. The first step is to open the unit and pass a fluid specific to contacts. If not solving check the welds. Not being it, the solution might be lead to specialized assistance.
