How to extract region from img file

This has certainly been posted before, but I cant figure it out. I have an unlocked img file of europe but only need one city. The full file is too big for my sd card. How can I extract that area to a new img file? Thanks

It's possible to make a simple preview map IMG in a roundabout way. That involves using GMapTool with cGPSmapper also installed to your PC to make an installed version of the map then selecting the parts you want, however the address search function will be lost because such third-party softwares cannot handle all the data in the original IMG file.

For practical purposes you should simply search for an unlocked version of the EU .gmap folder then use MapInstall to make a small IMG to fully unlock with gimgunlock if necessary. Or just buy a bigger card, they're cheap enough.
