GPS is not an exact science.
Why don't you switch it off during rest periods. !
Also maybe you can update the firmware to see if it helps !
Nuvi's do this also.

60CSx makes kilometers without walking
I oberved already for a long time the following phenomenom.
Hinking with the GPSMAP60CSx
A day walking with let's say 20 km trip.
An hour resting time in between.
During resting time the unit is attached tot the rucksack non moving.
Stopped time calculates an hour resting time.
Trip Odom easily generates 2 to 3km extra without any movement.
I have checked all over internet.
The phenonemom is recognized by others, however never mentioning the amount of exceedance.
There were some responses from Garmin referring to very small deviations.
10 - 15 % is however not exactly a small deviation when hiking.
I resetted the unit several times, it does not change the habit.
There is no malfunction on the unit.
Everything works fine.
Has anybody experienced this?
Has anybody an idea how this occurs?

Firmware is latest version.
I'am just surprised that the inaccuracy is so high.
10-15 % is extreme.
Garmin forums talk about minor inacuracy

This is because the noise. Small differences each coordinate sample accounts small steps.
