Default Looking for a new garmin.

    Hi everyone
I own a nuvi 205 right now and use it for travelling (which i do several times a year all over the world). I have been using this site and the 205 to load the maps I need for every trip and it has been working out great. Thanks for that!!!

lately I have noticed enhanced maps like city explorer with EPM available but I don't think my 205 is able to utilize these advanced features so I am considering upgrading.
I would love to know which type of Nuvi I should be looking for.

The things most important to me would be battery life, ease of changing maps, EPM, touristy features etc
Traffic and 3d stuff not so much. I also think that being able to use mapsource would be an asset as well. (although the last few maps I have loaded into the 205 I haven't used mapsource so that may not be an issue) Ohhh I am so confused. O.o

    Thanks so much!

If you want to manage "routes" with Mapsource buy a Nuvi 14xx series, with new models you cant do it.
EPM Lane Assist ,JCV,Speed limit indicator,Where Am I? etc. See 1450 specs here:

Sorry,Caty....The 25xx series runs perfectly paths loaded from MapSource or BaseCamp. The CX (with EPM) too, but this already knows
I also think other series such as the 34xx, but I'm not sure

    I wrote"routes" that's not "trips"

Regardless, "trips" are not the same thing as routes. Trips are collections of start and end pairs. When you reach the end point, the next next pair becomes active. Initially, there was no way to tell when you would reach your final destination, only the next point. This has been improved somewhat in the new firmware, but trips are still different from routes.
Buggy behavior is still reported by many users.
But everywhere users discussed and complained about this matter , 37xx users are still waiting vainly for "routes"

Ok ... in MapSource "routes" are the classic tracks. And these are precisely managed. I did not know the existence of the "trips"
Maybe we're saying the same thing.....
The one in the picture is what is loaded in the nav (or SD for the nav)

EDIT: forse ho capito cosa vuoi dire,o cosa intende il Boyd...mi riservo di provare a fondo la cosa,ma il percorso lo vedo tutto sulla mappa del nav

EDIT: maybe I understand what you mean, or do you mean the Boyd ... I intend to try to end it, but the way I see it all on map nav

On the 14xx you can have more than 10 routes in the Nuvi at the same time. (10 active at a time - many inactive.)
This is how you do it.
Create 20 or more Routes in Basecamp or Mapsource (do not create on device)
Download to Nuvi (send to device or memory card)
    Only import 10 max
When you need to navigate some of the other routes you just delete one of the active routes and import another.
The only thing that is bad is that it makes your current.gpx quite large.

Some people say that the 2495 has routes like the 1400 (it also says 100 on the spec sheet)
    Is this true ?

Nuvi 14xx is not good after Nuvi 205 experience! It do not have preview of route after direct choosing only one waypoint without stopping of current navigation. Nuvi 24x5, 25x5 and 34x5 may do that!
Garmin, how much is 30 pieces of silver for Judas today? Were they worthy for crucifix of GPSPower?

I must contradict you too: with my nuvi 2495 (and some other devices of this actual 2xx5 series) it's no problem to exchange waypoints, tracks and routes between MapSource (or BaseCamp) and nuvi.

I wouldn't recommend a nuvi 13xx or 14xx, unless it is very cheap, because these are discontinued models and many dealers try to sell their dead stocks much to expensive.

The nuvi 24x5 or 25x5 has some interesting new features and improved functions than 1xx0 or 2xx0 series.

Can you create a multi point route with intermediate points serving as waypoints in Mapsource and send it to 2495 and navigate it entirely may be adding a waypoint in route while navigating?

And...does route optimization work fine in 2495 coz in 34xx trips it doesnt work fine, can you see traffic notices while navigating a "trip"?

It's actually a real application: you can use it as a trip planned with arrival times and stop at every stop, or just as a classic route.
Can you handle it at will, even adding or removing stages, or which arrive earlier stage.
Even on a stretch both pedestrian instead automotive
Unfortunately I did not notice the traffic, so I could not answer the 2° question.
Just become familiar with the application, I see to do a little review
Also note that this feature was implemented by firmware after the entry into commerce

    Bye,bye
