I use a 62s as well for hiking and I don't rely on those values because you are wright, they are not good and I don't think you can do anything about it. I think it has something to do with the capability of the unit to track you when you are moving at a very low speed. The best thing you can do is make sure you have the latest firmware update, I'm pretty sure I saw something when latest update came out about an improvment of the sensitivity of the receiver.
