    Default I need to convert .img files to Garmin Mapsource or Home port readable file. PLEASE HELP

    I have .IMG files for Southwest Caribbean that I downloaded from this site and I am unable to convert the .img file to read in Homeport or on my Garmin 440S. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. I had a conversion tool about a year ago that I am unable to find that converted the .img file to a readable Garmin file.

    Thank you

    @floridafishing

    You already have an IMG-file in the correct format (e.g. Garmin propriety IMG map container format, not a disc image that some believes).
    HomePort reads the file from a connected Garmin unit, memory card or a USB-stick. Just copy the file as "[USB mass storage device]:\Garmin\gmapsupp.img".
    The same goes for your Garmin GPSMAP 440s, just copy as "[SD card]:\Garmin\gmapsupp.img" and put the SD card in the unit.

    Here I have HomePort with a microSDHC card as drive "L:" and the map stored at "L:\Garmin\gmapsupp.img":

    Now this is what happens - I am able to open in Homeport and see the map but when I take the card, install in my GPS 440s and power the unit on I get a message stating that the maps are locked. How do I unlock the maps?

    Thank you

    Look at Garmin soft and tool section sticky thread and search for an unlocker

    What error message are you getting when you try to load from C:/ drive?
