Default Naming convention for Garmin maps in Garmin nüvi 50

Garmin Nuvi 50 will recognize 4 separate names, is this correct?

    gmapbmap (usually basemap)
    gmapsupp
    gmapsup2
    gmapprom

It depends on what Garmin you have.

To fully explain, 30/40/50 is the same as most modern nuvis as to file structure. No need to only use the legacy naming (gmapprom.img etc) for detail maps in .system folder. Simply create a new folder named "Map" in the root of unit or sd (x:/Map) and then you can copy map images into there with any name that's convenient eg USA.img; EU.img etc.

Thanks, did that and it's working fine.

Just working through the possibilities as the Nuvi 50 is quite flexible so far...

I've got 3 maps working ok now: Bluechart, City Nav and Topo v3, no need for any more, cheers!

Basecamp, Homeport and Mapsource like the Nuvi 50 as well...
