    Question no address function

I downloaded North America 2012.30 and installed using Mapsource , all seemed to go well. But when I try to "find" an address it errors and says "NO MAP DATA AVAILABLE". All POI's, Favorites, all else works as long as there is no address attached. Is it because I transfered to GPS [NUVI 1450] using mapsorce and you cannot use the find by address using mapsource?

Where and what did you download? The original locked Mapsource CNNT 2012.30 that i have is fully functional as an image on my nuvi with address search. Sounds like what you have got was compiled by loading an image file back into MS which looses address search.

You must download Mapsource Installation for address searching and correct downloading of selected region to Nuvi. IMG file only for simple copying to Nuvi memory.

As Giomen said, you are always best to get a Mapsource original, and then as he and i said both said in our replies, all search functions will work for sure. It's hard at the present with so many dl sites down. A quick look thru the CNNT NA 2012.30 thread didn't look good for MS original, and i think the latest thread for lower 49 is 2012.20. Ozboss's gmap folders are know to be reliable... if you can get it from here, it's sure to be ok in MS: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]. You didn't say exactly what you did, but sounds like a dl of an image that you then loaded back in MS yourself, to try to then load just some regions to your unit? Or did you dl a dodgy gmap folder? If you are not trying to get just some regions from an image dl, you can of course just drop the whole unlocked *.img file into your unit as i'm sure you know. As long as the *img was not made by someone reverse-engineering thru MS it will work ok. The only absolutely reliable way is to start with a locked MS original to obtain a "clean" image for yourself of just the regions you want. Good luck. Post again with more detail of what you're try to do and with what if you're still stuck.

I know I dl an image and then used GMAP tool to split it and installl in MS. Then used MS to dl to GPS and I only used the lower 49 NOT the entire map.I will re-download image when I can and just copy it to gps.

Yep, that'll do it every time. GMapTool doesn't load everything, it just loads a 'preview type' map into MS which is usefull for browsing it etc in MS, but it strips out the full searching functions. If you can't find a working dl for the latest lower 49 image, just dl ozboss's gmap folder or an original MS Installation from the 2012.30 North America thread then load from MS to your unit only what you need, lower 49 or even just a few states. Full search will then work. Thanks for reporting back what you did, it might help someone else.

That's why in post #6 above i pointed you to ozboss's gmap post here: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]. It's links seems to be working and it will be easier if you use JDownloader, read how to use it in Caty's thread here: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]. There's even a video tut, just scroll down to 'have you got a DLC file' and then further down to 'have you downloaded a Mapsource GMAP folder'. It's not easy for the mods/admins at the moment with so many dl sites down so you might have to be patient to find working links.
