Question Street Pilot C330 Update Questions

    Greetings,

I have a old Garmin Street Pilot C330, that needs some updates.

    It's SW Ver is 6.10 (C330), Topoly V2 1x1GB, Americas Lite Basemap 4.0 , C-series Audio 2.60. Cpu rev 1.2

It has CN North America NT v8 on it..

Because the device does not display it's NAND as a drive thru the USB hub, I'm wondering what the proper procedure is to update the NAND for a more recent Basemap and or City Navigator. I'd like to utilize the 1g Onboard NAND if possible. I don't need the entire North America IMG
Lower 48 would suffice if this will get it below 1G ..

And before I'm told to just use a SD card.. This device is limtied to a 2gb SD card, and my goal is to use the SD Card to load TOPO and or city explorer maps, or possibly Mexico data, and want to again utilize the storage that is already on this device.

I've not see any model specific guides for this model via the forum search tools. Granted I didn't dig more than 10 pages deep though.

Would anyone be able to walk me thru getting this old workhorse updated?

Internet speed withholding, I'll have the full North America NT 2012.20 image ready to go in an hour or so..

I do have Jetmouse 1.5 (+Crc patch), Mapsource 6163 (+P) , MapsetToolkit with cgpsmapperFree ready to go..

Please Advise! (Please and Thank you!)

I used to have a c330 - but I could only have it read NEW maps if I loaded them on a sD card. if you insist on loading it with 2012 maps, you will have to limit the map size thru mapsource to fit on your SD card because maps newer than 2008 have to much info in them and so you can't hope to use entire file (map) or so I recall reading.

Also, once you've created the map image - you will have to use an older utility like UPDATER to install it on the c330. I BELIEVE I read that article (ages ago) on another website, probably GPSpassion or ************** - both in the States. Do a Google search for c330 & "updating internal map". Quotes will be necessary to weed out other articles and advertisements.

    method used on SP2720

prepare a small gmapsupp.img with a map you don't need
    unlock gmapsupp.img
    rename to GMAPPROM.IMG
    get Sendmap20.exe
    install Garmin usb-driver
    install WebUpdater C:\Garmin\WebUpdater\WebUpdater.exe
copy the unlocked file to C:\Garmin\GMAPPROM.IMG
run update.cmd [erasing is done twice !]
    Code:
Please Login or Register to see the links
After this you have free memory to load map directly with MapSource, and replacing it easy every time again with a new one just using MapSource.
But if you just want one-time update you prepare a big map in step 1.
