Default TMC is a piece of carp!

either nothing or vague or inconclusive info
for making a decision either ways.
Pro version is not doing any better at all.
and also far too fat wiring for a tiny outcome.

    anybody agrees?

    regards

Not sure which country you are talking about, but I am currently in Germany and TMC Pro works here perfectly.
Which means, I had no traffic jams from or to Cebit every day.

So without examples and more information from your side, I cannot agree

    hello tom1807
you probably in the area or core of Hanover,
so how can "TMC Pro work perfectly".
messages with realistic delay saving option -
not in a close range distance to destination where
    many others are heading too.

I am travelling more than 4000 miles per month
on the continent including Germany. went into too
many jams, min 30 min, max 7 hours. the red triangle
turns up giving me delays e.g. 2 minutes 100 miles away.
well, what I am supposed to do, waiting until it adds up?
right choosing avoidance no matter what kind of jam it is?
if so, the device tells me it's already summed that up and no
deviation needed - predicting the same length once 'we' will be?
so changed back to radio forecast, more reliable.

to leave something positive - both LED always green.

    @muntunnus
in the area that fish uses for shiggang too...

Thare are no fools in our world! All of us use TMC and go by one green way - may be it is cause of jams!?

Russian TMC humor: Night and no car on street - on NUVI i see a jam after turn. I make turn anyway and see only the first car in night town and near drunked man talking by smartphone. Russian system is monitiring smart that connected and registered to special antijam system...

Cebit was only an example, I tested on several occasions also in other areas, like France, Italy and Netherlands. Maybe I was lucky, maybe it worked really as it should be.

Don't forget, the TMC works only as good as the source. So when a traffic jam is not reported by any source, how should it be announced?

TMC have a some delay. People try to leave one jam and make another new!
Usely when i see jam on navi so far 10 km I do not hesitate and go forward. At most case road is clear by mu arrival.
Taxi drivers be have a very wide smile if you ask theirs about traffic service efficiency in part of jams diversion...

Doesnt TMC depend on there being many other Garmin users with TMC installed, beaming info on their speed to that great Garmin computer in the sky (or something)?

As Giomen said, if there is only one other car in the locality with TMC and it happens to be parked, then the 'Great Garmin TMC Computer' will indicate this as a traffic jam.
Simply because the car is stopped and the TMC sees this as zero or very low speed, ie the actual gps unit speed compared to what the average should be at that particular location.
There are no other cars near it so it assumes there is traffic.
Likewise If there happened to be 10 TMC equipped cars that then zoomed past that parked car, I'm sure the 'traffic' conjestion would suddenly dissapear.

The more cars with TMC transmitter/recievers on a given section of road, the more accurate and representative will be the traffic information you recieve.

I think I got that right, although I may be completly wrong and talking complete bull*hit, in which case ignore all of the above.

GPS units do not have any transmitter--just a receiver for broadcast traffic info reception.
