Default Can Garmin detect fileshare maps on your device?

Hello all, I was just wondering... (Hypothetically) If I had maps downloaded from fileshare sites on my Garmin GPS and then connected the device while using say My Garmin or Web updater, could Garmin detect them?

How about sending the whole unit in to Garmin, say under the current battery recall? Or would they even bother looking at the files?

Don't some maps have different data in their headers placed there by some manipulator softwares such as gMap? Interesting bit of information, caty! Thank you!

depends on the way they'r unlocked and who unlocked it-
if you have on your device an IMG named eg XXX city navigator unlocked by XXX. lol it's easy to discover it
better to remove it, but if you have a gmapsupp img unlocked with fast img unlocker or a gmapsupp with it's unl file, there are no problems
