Thanks Giomen, you're right of course. And that's the thing. I can't find any reference to Suna/SUNA/suna/AU/AUS/Australia in traffic. Maybe i'm not looking for the right thing. I'm using V6.20 if anybody else would like to check in it: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]. But if AU Traffic isn't enabled in software, why the heck is it working unless adding the .xml somehow worked? But i know it shouldn't.

    Hi Loly,
The one marked 'New Subscription' i don't expect will ever work as it's had an extraordinary amount of time to activate. It's for all AU ['trigger' code 129, 0, 0, 1]. The Suna TMC: Lifetime Subscription is for Queensland Traffic only [17409, 56, 56, 1] which didn't work at first, even after an hour with sat lock, but worked within a minute after i added the traffic xml. Can you find any reference to Suna in the 300/350 firmware? In the 310/360 firmware it's very obvious:

    e9sc

The sub works fine when the GTM12 is used with both units, but i can't understand why it works in the 300.

PS: Do you mean that any sub will work even if there is no reference to the provider in RDS app but will remain as 'New Subscription'?

    hello
Tell me please. What model TMC Traffic Receiver is a Nuvi 2497LMT? Maybe the receiver built into the device itself? Included was a cable ęTA-10." Can be used in such a case, TMC free or not?

    @Philipych
Maybe your regional device comes with a different TMC receiver, but the usual in the box with 2497LMT is FM GTM 36 traffic receiver/car charger with a LifeTime subscription for its localised region's market. Perhaps some markets get a digital cable. As far as i'm aware, no version of 2457 has an integrated traffic receiver and relies on receiving traffic from an external accessory. Any of GTM25/26/35/36 FM receivers are compatible and combined TMC FM/Digital DAB+ receivers such as GTM 60 will also work. I've not heard of a traffic cable named anything other than GTMxx.

Nuvi 2497LMT may have built-in (with TA-10/20) or GTM 35/36 or GTM 60/70 HD receivers according to regions (dealers) of sale.

About utilization of built-in receiver we already have thread here:

Thanks Giomen, i'm aware of that thread which i posted in extensively and it refers only to the 2012 models with integrated receiver and TA-20 power cable [i'd not heard of TA-10 either]. I wasn't aware of any 2013 with built in receiver other than 1x2/4 range. I guessed that it's this one he had:
    Code:
Please Login or Register to see the links
Under 'Комплектация' ['Complete Set'] which i assumed was the usual 'In the Box' tab it has 'Антенна для приема трафика' which translates as 'Antenna for receiving traffic' which sounded more like an included accessory than an integrated receiver to me. [Just so you know i did research it before i answered him which i did because his post had gone unanswered for nearly a day ....]

Also on re-reading the post, I think he's asking if he can add another TMC sub to it using this method or only by paid.

TA-10/20 is named as traffic antenna cable vs GTM known as traffic receiver cable:

AH! The penny has dropped. Thanks Giomen. Yes i knew that the vehicle charger cable was used as an antenna for on-board traffic receivers [much as a mobile phone earpiece cable is used as an aerial for radio reception], but didn't make that connection until now [Bl**dy translations!]. So, is that 'version' of 2497 only available in RU region or are there other on-board regional versions in EU as well?

Also, can you add a JM sub the same as with an external GTMxx?

PS: I've bought bits and pieces from Russia. 2nd hand screens, GTM21 recently [it had a US 3 month sub on-board strangely], but never a new unit. One of the few types of units i don't own is an on-board traffic model [someone was going to go to Germany last year to buy me a nuvi 150 for Christmas but spent the money on Vodka instead i think ].
Best you send me one of those Ruskki 2497s this year or i'll sic my 'roo onto your bear's sorry saggy brown a*se!

I do not know Russian market. In Russia is not office of Garmin and so buying device is dangerous. Very bare complectation, overpriced cost, bad service and problems with guarantee take place. So on garmin.ru are many info that do not correspond with reality.
But I hear what model with built-in traffic receiver sold in many country and it have problems with SW in opposite to external GTM. But angelozip wrote that built-in traffic receiver work with JM:

The cable carrier is a simple power cord (TA20), but Traffic does not work with non original Garmin cable (still need to test the cables GTMxx with receivers ).

The good news is that the receiver built-in accepts keys generated by JetMouse.
Question is only in SW version for traffic receiver. For external GTM problem is fully investigated on this forum. But not for built-in version. You must post ad that the experimental rabbits is required.
